if i had to define elo hell, it's high 4k/low 5k trash thinking they are amazing players and instantly marking safelane/mid while claiming they will "feed if they don't get it"

    Relentless

There are a lot of people who have only achieved their MMR just barely by spamming whatever and they fear they can't hold it if they don't keep playing in their best situation. You may be able to deal with them better if you recognize that they are afraid they will lose and encourage them. Give them a little extra help so they gain confidence, such a player does not want to feed - they just are afraid they will because they are near their max skill level.

when they say "feed" i think they mean: "i'll run down mid because i'm an asshole/autistic moron," not "i'll feed because i'm incompetent" (though the latter is true as well)

i can play support and carry (mid/offlane is way more restricted in terms of hero choice), it's just so tedious to have to adapt to them because if they end up on support you can expect a flying courier upgrade at 9 minutes and no rotations

I often upgrade the courier as a carry player in a lower MMR game. The whole team needs it. I find that if I finish treads 1 creep wave later because I upgraded the courier it doesn't hurt me at all. But maybe mid is able to gank because the courier was flying. Maybe the support hero decides they can afford to get more obs wards up because they didn't have to fly the courier.

Yeah, but people don't actually do that - maybe 1 in 100 games. But they say it a lot. I think those who say it really just are afraid they can't deal with any other laning situation. I tend to see a "mid or feed" player get mid and then feed anyway through incompetence. What they needed was an early gank since they told everyone implicitly that they are bad at mid, but are going mid anyway.

It's a sign they probably need uphill ward vision and an early smoke gank to help them.

grinder as someone who plays mainly carries i feel like games are far far easier when i pick chen/ganking support and just fuck the enemy mid + offlane

i dont think mmr hell exists at all, maybe in 6.83 life sucked as a support player but you could still influence the game imo

                Shut up dan!

                Dan

Read a couple of replies but I'm not gonna read them all :P.

@Oni If you actually paid attention to when patch notes come out you'd see I've climbed from 3.2k to somewhere around 4.3k Pre Bloodseeker thrist buff, Its ok though you're probably a casual or something.

Anyways to the topic at hand... Kinda just pisses me off guys, i probably use dotabuff forums more than reddit atm and every other thread is about someone wanting some miracle solution on how to get 7k or someshit, The amount of shit posts is annoying as fuck.... its a shame the forum hasnt been developed more with different sub sections and mods.

WOULD BE NICE STAFF HINT HINT.

                  Dan

@frozen I've had two shit games like that today tbh, an antimage run down the lane and feed the enemy going 0-17 just because his support started roaming (I was 5-0 at the time too :/)

Another we were winning and the enemy DDOSed the server so it wouldnt count.

Shit happens from time to time :(.

                    strategiccheese

You also have to play differently based on YOUR skill level

I find in fights I sometimes forget to use actives on certain items or forget to use my level 5 Dagon once it's come back up in the middle of a big fight

So maybe you don't want to buy 6 big items with actives just because your doing well in ganks. As their not as useful if you aren't actually USING these actives

Spectated my 2k IRL friend, I told him to get a shivas and he used it maybe 1/2 the time, usually late when he did

So yeah it'd be better if he had an octarine or something
