i think my starting mmr was 3400 even though i won like 2 or 3 games during calibration how'd i get so high

there's a difference between you (Average player) and Volvo (who has a shitload of Stats, Game, method etc). The calibration is just perfect. when i started, i was way better than my friends. They all scored from 3.3 to 3.8k and they played good. I played very poorly IMO and i still got 4.3k even if i lost 80% of my games. yet the system saw somehow my skillplay, my item choise, my general descision and precision. You deserve the MMR you have.Period.

tho i agree with you that there is a 'MMR hell'. This is not due to the bad system. most of players at this point tend to have terrible flaw :
You may have good KDA -> but you're a fucking pussy
You may have good skill in general -> but you play 15 game a day and get mad 80% of the time
      well you know the point.

i dont know why im taking time to say this but this should be a STiCKY post :
if you're better, you'll go higher
If you're worst, you'll go lower
You're stagnant? then you are where you deserve to be

MMR system is working as intended. Tried it with 2 smurfs.
MMR on current account = ~4.6-4.8k
MMR on 1st smurf after calibration = 4800
MMR on 2nd smurf after calibration = 4750

Hows that normal/high skill doing for you chap? im thinking there is your problem.

BTW: i went on ranked mmr at lvl 13, got something along 2300 and went down to 2180, only knew how to use viper lol

Did i make a smurf? no, i got better, went from 2180 to 3600 and still rising at fast speed (+65% winrate in ranked), MMR is fine, calibration is fine, you dont deserve a better mmr, you GIT GUD and TAKE THE MMR.

I started playing about 3 months back, and started fresh with 1 friend.

He only queued in a group while i played other solo queued normal games and lost more than i won. In terms of skills and understanding of the game, and KDA, i should be better overall (Better KDA, whereas he played mostly Earthshaker).

However, after calibration, he was 3k whereas i ended up 2.5k. Was mad at first, but it makes sense now.

We won mostly during games where we queued in group before calibration, and i lost mostly when i queued solo. As a result, i started at a lower MMR calibration point.

End of the day? i started calibration at a lower point than him, and never got back up after 10 calibrations (60/40 win loss).

He started higher and was 50/50 W/L at a higher starting point, and finished at 3k.

My advice, or challenge to you is, if you think you should have a higher MMR, play something where you can singlehandedly take over the game and dominate. My current go-to is Bloodseeker mid, which works wonders in 2.5k bracket, but definitely not good for anything higher than 2.8k (my team ranked opponent averages come to about 2.8k and i dont dominate in that bracket).

gj tryhard wannabe you have 10 wins more than loss at 115 games played. your w/r means nothing

your friend playin even 44% winrate keep playin on vh bracket, and you on high bracket.

look at my profile, guess my mmr

dude low level pubs and pro tourneys are different.... if u can't imact a game highly at a low bracket then you belong there. if you're a good support in pub you make a lot of kills happen all over the map, creating space for your team. If you're a decent carry player who doesn't belong in your mmr then you should be able to have the highest cs, gpm, xpm , hero damage, etc. in the game.

hero dmg is the facor that counts the most.
