@class Doubt his married, hes younger than me xd,
@az, his last upload was a month ago tho
He decided to start a new farm in east Germany as a pumpkin farmer.
heard he is pretty successful so im happy for him despite not seeing him much anymore ):
I hope that someday he will be back
He had some solid advice. Some things were rather silly like the Morphling no-damage last hit stuff. Very unrealistic challenge.
Tried watching a video of his, he was eating bananas for like the first 10 minutes. Straight up banana-chewing at full blast. After he finished one, he went for another. He even mentioned the fact that people think him eating while recording is annoying, and said he doesn't give a shit.
So I turned off the video. Why would I watch someone who cares so little about their audience? Hearing that disregard for his viewers totally turned me off to Cookie.
^this
watched one or two of his videos and he seemed like an ass. find someone wholesome to give you dota advice :)
he ascended to a higher plane of existence
hes writing 10 paragraph essays and selling his book in the sky now
i did the morphling challenge for a couple minutes and obviously had nowhere near 100% cs rate but it makes u pay attention to the creep animations which a lot of people dont do
As Arc Warden player I tried to search Arc Warden smurf on Youtube and found one of his video.
And all the times he keeps saying "Just fucking ward their jungle so Alchemist can't farm 4head"
I love this guy.
Dog that's an insult to Shepherd imo.
Cookie was a good player but didn't give a shit about the people who took his advice. No one wants to sit down and learn from an asshole.
Shepherd/Glimmer of Fawns/Dawn claims to be a teacher and genuinely gives a shit about giving advice to others. While I don't know jack about him irl, I'd believe him, as his care for others and desire to teach shows through his posts.
The real question is why he even bothers posting on Dotabuff, a cesspool forum where every 1/100 well-thought-out posts gets drowned out by the standard crying/trolling posts.
To be fair Cooks was a self proclaimed ass so it was part of who he was/is.
If you scourge the forums you can check because he gave solid advice too.
Being open and accepting the fact that you are an asshole/have asshole tendencies does not excuse it in any way.
Like I referenced above. He was recording a video while eating a banana, graphically and loudly. He straight up brings up how often people rag on him for eating while recording. He says he doesn't care. Who does that? Who produces content while doing something that makes it less pleasant/intolerable to watch? What is even the point of making content if you care so little about it? If you're not making content for your viewers, who are you making it for?
So there's the lazy asshole part of that, being apathetic about anyone else's input and being unwilling to even slightly inconvenience himself to make his content more watchable. Then there's the moronic illogical part of it, doing something that objectively makes your content worse to watch. After watching about 10 minutes of it I closed the video and have no desire to watch anything of his ever again. I bet a lot of other people left the video feeling the same way I did.
I hope Cookie leads a good life and has healthy relationships with others in real life, but from that weirdly anti-social behavior I saw from that video I wouldn't be surprised if the people who appreciate his company are few and far between. That kind of lack-of-respect for others is a huge negative trait in most people's eyes.

@DemonicTrashcan
Well I could say something similar for you. Your posts are well put together and you seem to be able to rub two shits together in order to not fall foul of the Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory.
I think I've shown enough of myself on here- anyone who's perceptive enough should be able to reverse engineer the kind of personality I am and the motivations I have. But the one point that jumps out at me is well yeah, on the surface it's a cesspool forum, but I also think there's a silent majority effect going on. Sure there's a decent number of people who post and engage, but I can see the curious quiet worms coming out of the cracks.
At least half the people who have specifically asked me for advice aren't regular posters and their posting style has been calm and nice, otherwise I would have been far more reticent to help them anyway.
Turns out, this forum really reminds me of some of the (albeit rougher) schools that I've worked in. And yes, these forums can be a shitshow, but it's a shitshow I care about, and I've had experience moderating my own forums and debating philosophy so it takes some real shit to turn me off of a forum. I mean it's not 4chan.
The most important thing to me is that some people somewhere find value in the posts, that's good enough for me.
i think he even banned me from his discord because he didnt like my superior item builds
Aw thanks Lantern/Shepherd/Glimmer of Dreams/Fawns/Dawn. I'm sure there are a lot of non cesspool people who lurk these forums, it's just hard to see them through the mire. Any un-moderated MOBA forum will end up being a bunch of MMR/balance complaining and general trolling it seems.
I'm not teacher but I also moderated a couple of forums back in the day. We may be "long-winded likes-to-explain-things" kindred spirits.
I've been meaning to make one of those "summoning Glimmer of Dawn for feedback" threads but you seem to have already developed a backburner for those requests so I didn't want to add to your pile. I admire your willingness to help others.
Relevant:
My true form is not for all to see,
I’m merely a reflection, a shimmering sea,
I walk across mountains, a shepherd of fawns
As I crest over, a glimmer of dawn
@DemonicTrashcan
Now you have ultimate proof of how boring summer was and how it drove me to doing pretentious things :P
Yeah man, I totally empathise with you. Tbh, with the DOW2 forum which I moderated, the exact same thing that you describe happened there, and I was having none of it. I was lucky enough to have spent many years on Relicnews and saw how things could be civil and not a trolly shitshow, so I knew what groundrules I needed to lay, and with effort, I managed to get it to a place where I liked. Unfortunately, after I left that forum, it's become a worse cesspool than this place is. Imagine that.
You know I got shit for defending the "clueless noobs" and their right to express their opinions, which put me at odds with some of the community veterans and friends. But the reality is that my role was as a moderator and being a Philosophy graduate, I had to believe in the virtue of running a forum fairly in order to promote debate and argumentation. Doing so helped the community and the developers of the mod that allowed DOW2 to live many more years. I spent many an hour chatting with friends about how these clueless noobs would come and post their crazy opinions, and I had to calm them down many a time. Ah, good times.
What I did notice from my time moderating is that there were so many people who were basically silent and lurking, and many of them would be afraid to speak up, especially as the forum got more elitist as the population changed from balanced, to old vs new, to old boys club with the regular trickle of complete noobs from steam discount sales.
The reality is, the silent majority effect is basically always in play. Like, if I were to only listen to the most vocal in the USA, in the Trump era, I'd have to assume that the entirety of the USA is basically bonkers. But of course I'm gonna acknowledge that only the most vocal people are screaming their views. In fact, moderates are often moderates because they are moderate people who don't feel the need to scream their moderate views to the world. So, I say, chin up, don't get disheartened by the shitshow that is on display because there's no way that's representative of the big picture.
Just like even though I know my experience of Dota has affected my attitude towards Russians, I try to remind myself only the most vocal are screaming cyka blyat and being horrible. In fact I've met some perfectly pleasant and good natured Russians to remind me of this fact.
Anyway, I get the impression you may be a good teacher too if you were ever inclined towards that as a career. And sure I am a busy person, but if you ever need anything from me, just ask and I'm sure I'll be happy to oblige, regardless of the size of said pile ;)
he was still creating dota2 content a month ago. maybe he stopped since.
I got a coach named Cookie
he likes to meet with a rookie
he knows he has a hard duty
he is writing a dota guide goodly
that is very efficient and tricky
tells you how to alst hit
with every single second tick
makes your carry strong as a BRICK
gives your hero BALLS and DICK
gives you much map awareness
Plays your hero with much dearness
gets angry at you at your mistakes
scolds you what you negate
talks wonderfully like DRAKE
makes the game a piece of cake
shows you your weakness
removes all your dullness
knows everything like a bookie
he is my super coach cookie.
