Why so many people think that their opinions matter and feel need to expose them to public? in General Discussion

Everywhere on the internet you will find opinions. Like half of the shit people post is their opinions and than you need to sort them out from descriptions of expiriencies. It is like everyone is autistic. They write "i like cats more than dogs" rather than "girl i like have cat" or "when i was child dog bitten me". While first statement is useless garbage two others say something about you.

Because most humans think that their opinions- the sum total of them- represent their identity. They think that Jimmy is summed up by Beliefs A, B, C and so on. And identity is very important for a lot of humans. They stick together, are tribal with humans they identify with, which is why you get things like guns rights lobbies, white supremacists, motorbike enthusiasts and gangs.

Then you throw in the anonymity of the internet and all hell breaks loose. People feel like because they are anonymous, they can act like complete utter dicks (See: Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory), so on the internet, the main thing that holds people back (social niceties) goes out the window, and all their beliefs- including their deepest darkest beliefs in their brains - come out to play.

On dotabuff forums, there's some darkness here. Plenty of people are dead inside. But at least this isn't 8chan.

There is huge difference between belief and opinion.

Belief is formed when there is lack of evidence or experience, yet concept exist (god, extraterrestrial life, all the good stuff)

Opinions are formed when there was experience with concept.

I'm in total opposition against law allowing homosexual men to exist on equal level with heterosexuals because all homosexual men i met were simply able to pretend their attraction to their own sex just to exploit flawed female psyche and gain their attention based on envy. Such deceitful reproductive strategy should be punished by law.

You mean like that time yesterday when you said that you can't apply statistics to Dota, because we are all unique and unpredictable and other sorts of dumb uninformed shit?

You are simply not very bright, my friend. Read a book once in a while and let others do the thinking.

If getting turned on doesn't lead you to performing deeds of questionable moral value it is still ok.

Perhaps because people generally want to feel like they "exist" and/or the desire for recognition. They want to identify their self and identify themselves to a community. Personally I don't care about either and I'm completely happy with that... sans the subconscious desire to actually pursue these qualities due to societal upbringing which is annoying. It's strange how everybody immediately considers life to have meaning when they are young. There is no meaning in our existence(In my positive nihilistic point of view). What changes that is your mindset and purpose in life. It means nothing matters in the grand scheme, a thought both assuring and terrifying to me.

Opinions are pretty much people's subjective interpretations. On one hand they could bring about benefits and unity, on the other hand we have shit like Breatharianism, Anti-Vaxxers, Flat-Earthers, etc.

Though I seriously don't understand why people have these "dark beliefs". Is it a way of venting their frustrations or something? Are most people innately as cruel and immature to consider the veil of anonymity a justification of their rude behavior? Well I would say I've lost hope in humanity as a whole if I still have it. But all in all, we don't have to focus on the negatives unless we can practically do an activity to mitigate it. Thinking about music, following hobbies, looking at art makes me believe that people that WANT to brighten up our lives exist somewhere too :). And as such, people may use this shield of anonymity to spread positivity instead.

TL:DR. Ahahaha don't bother reading these. Just talking to myself. Just read the 1st 2 sentences and it's gucci.

                                  Glimmer described OP perfectly.

Imagine if they tried to go to real-life events/activities and intentionally ruined every single game. Such degenerate anti-social behavior can only be done in an online environment. We all know OP wouldn't even have the spine to say/try shit with anyone in-person anyway. Something is wrong with them/their life and they take out their anger on strangers on the internet.
