Well to start, the pain started from the base of my thumb about 2 weeks ago. Then started to spread down to my wrist about last week.
with my palm facing down, If I "yaw" (look: 6 degrees of motion) my hand to the right, I get some sort of pain on the base of my thumb-left side of wrist that feels like a blood vessel is pinched?
Every morning my right hand starts out stiff and painful. What I do to alleviate this is to "crack" my wrist somehow by pulling my thumb close to parallel with down to my arm. It only cracks once everyday.
just do wrist exercises and cask them during the night before you sleep
when i had wrist problems because i played osu a lot i just do this "praying" stance until i feel a stretch in my wrists and hold them still for around 10 secondsi dont think ive used either compresses but it wasnt rly that bad anyway
Cold compress iirc. I sprained my wrist one time when I was playing ball and landed hard using my hand. A few nights cold compress and wrapping cloth tightly around it helped. But maybe that isn't what's needed so try follow Alice's suggestion. Wrist exercises sound safer than devoting to a specific solution

I dont think this is carpal tunnel since it should affect the metatarsals instead. Its more like my thumb throwing a fit and somehow convinced my wrist to play along with it.
What I do is I try to do that yawing motion where I feel the pain in the affected area and hold it still for a few moments. Sometimes I also use a dipper filled with water and do a tossing motion since it also stretches that part. But so far its not getting better. Might try a heat pack since someone suggested it to me but I wonder if a cold compress shoulf work as well since that is what I used when I had tendonitis problems on my feet sometime ago

injuries that suddenly happen like in sports should be treated by ice mostly because an inflamation happens
tired joints where ur feeling numb (ex. u walked all day without rest and ur legs hurt) its usually hot compress/massage
