well those arent what weaver needs, are they? at best maelstrom is situational versus illusions/summons because the swarm just isnt cutting it. despite maelstrom not getting affected by armor, it is affected by magic resistance, which, depending on your team, might be made by the other team anyway
versus a desolator in terms of teamfight deso is better by a small margin. maelstrom does proc lightning but it may not bounce to heroes, may bounce to creeps instead. with deso, you can focus on someone you want to focus, instead of spreading damage equally between the whole enemy team. deso also allows you to push towers faster
