There is alot of burst stuff going on in this meta/patch - not a hole lot of man-up heroes which makes troll not so great right now because that's pretty much what his sole purpose is. Like a decent invoker, which is played in every other game now wrecks him in a combo every time pre bkb. Also he is a bad farmer. But take rosh early if you don't do that, he's really good at solo rosh and try get objectives with teammates after you have aegis.
Troll is good at wrecking towers. He's good in lineups that is based on autoattacks. He is a pure 1v1 hero. Get a blink or shadow blade, you don't want to eat nukes while walking to your opponent's supports. Once you got a lucky bash, it's usually a kill already.
