I'm not really seeing how AM counters PL. If you're referring to Battlefury, then any BF buying hero would be a counter.

PL wrecks ES so much early game that it's so hard for him to create impact vs PL. If the PL plays smart he can bait out ES ults by constantly forcing illusions on him
Sven/BM/Ember/LC/Earth Spirit there are quite a few heroes that can control him (long stun/silence durations). Best is still probably Ember though
Well yes, that is a problem. However her ulti instantly kills any illusions that become petrified.

Sven has both, but generally anything will work alright.
And no, dusa sucks. PL along with everyone with a brain will run away from her gaze, PL can easily escape with dopple. Then he turns on her doing 500 mana damage and 300 physical damage per second with slows she can't run from, plus he takes reduced damage (maybe even none if she is unlucky) until she finds the real PL.
The thing with PL is, he has 100% uptime on his cancer. What that means is that you too need to pick a hero with 100% uptime/low cooldowns to fuck him. This makes ember pretty much the perfect hero against him, he PL has no hard lockdown, so he can't kill him alone really, but if ember builds for PL cancer, he can take him out many times during the match. I like picking Sven against PL, but it's always a gamble, your ult bkb can be baited out so you can't fight for another 80 seconds, that's kinda terrible against PL who will just run down people 24/7 if he feels like it. Magnus with a good right click hard carry is probably way more reliable, even something like PA + Magnus is better than Sven on his own, due to his dependence on his ult.
Invoker + some kind of assists = dead PL, unless the PL is 5+ slotted, which shouldn't happen unless ur getting stomped.

#50 PL on the world says once you see ember on the enemy team all you can do is hope your team can make space for you to rat and new PL isnt any good @ ratting.
About the Earthshaker thing ,Shaker counters PL under certain circumstances
while ember clicks W/E and counters him every 6 seconds.
dragon knight, aoe in dragon form, pl's illusions hit for jack shit against that armor, long instant stun pl can't dodge, plus he can go mjollnir and clear them even easier (mjollnir great farming dk item).
I think the important thing to mention here is that if you find the real PL, all that makes him a carry goes out of the window. Without illusions, he literally doesn't do anything, he's going to have high base armor, high attack speed and some base damage, but he doesn't really hit hard, and can be bursted down, even with heart. I've seen ursa players jump the real PL, just hit him once, and then continue hitting the guy with the little lines above his head all the time. So while single target heroes generally suck against PL, if you don't suffer from brain damage, you can still kill him.

Here how u counter super fed PL with alchemist. Crimson Guard makes u basically immune to illusion damage while on ult.
Before patch 6.86 I used to pick dark seer against PL his illusions melted in seconds and I knew where is the real one. High armor of DS made him harder to kill. But now you can't do nothing, because you can purge ion shell. Maybe that new invoker can do something against PL. Now he is not useless in the beginning of game :D

ES just make it easier for other counters to finish off the lancer.
Also note that Magnus + any heavy DPS heroes can kill lancer.
Okay I just returned to this and I think that Doom is probably my favourite way to counter him so far.
Of course, you need aghanims for this to work but once you have aghs it stops his passive from working, thus he won't respawn any images. Perhaps it isn't the BEST way to counter him but I think that it's definitely a good one.
I'm yet to try it in a match against him, but in theory it could work well. I mean I practically get aghs on doom all the time anyway.
Just aoe in general so he cant fight early on without skadi . Have your carries go Mjollnir/battlefury .

ITEM : Maelstorm, Mjolonir
You need ez lane that make ur hero getting gold and EXP ez and it will work
If u use doom to counter him make sure u doom the right pl or ur going to make it to dc fails of the week...

Yeah that was kind of assumed in my comment haha. Ideally you'd doom him before the fight starts, maybe with Shadow Blade. Who knows.
