Mokujin

Anyone had any experience with them?

I'm considering getting an e-book vs a tablet

u want comparative analysis of different ebooks, or just to know whether it is worth it to purchase one or not?

I don't need an objective analysis of different ebooks, I just want to have some first hand experience of what it's like to have an ebook :D

i have kindle, i think 2013 version, it's so good, much better than books
if you want to just read books e-reader is better because of the screen
reading on a tablet sucks because of the background light

                    Mokujin

@Reese, how much can you read on it before the battery dies?

I have a Kindle Voyage. E-Books are slightly cheaper than real books, depends on the cost of the reader when you will have a break even. You need a protective sleeve for it that costs extra.
Battery holds for weeks if you read between half an hour and an hour per day. Always remembers which side you were on, has own light, is not much heavier than a book. The screen is much better for reading than a tablet and because it is monochrome it takes way less battery to use. A tablet can crap out on you on a longer drive or train ride or flight. An e-reader will most likely not.

You are pretty much bound to one e-book retailer. With amazon it automatically uploads the books on your devices over WLAN or if you paid extra for it mobile internet. You can have multiple devices (I think up to three) that share books. Some books, especially classics, are sometimes for free. It sucks for comics/manga.

The only negative side is, that I was never afraid to drop a book, read in the bathtub or get a book stolen. Now I am...

ebook is one of the most worth-it purchases i made in my life, but since flibusta was banned, im not using my device as often as before.

Mokujin: i don't know exactly what the full battery life is, probably 2-4 weeks if you read everyday for 1-2 hours
