can someone tell me how good this shit is on Witch Doctor? i havent had a chance to play any doto yet..
does it work with maledict cos that is a "distance related spell", but its also AoE?

It's fucking amazing on Vengeful Spirit, it accompanied with her level 16 ult is INSANE.
It's 1400 range after the Aether Lens buff, but feels like 1700 I swear, NO ONE will expect to be swapped from that distance, it's absurd. Try it in a bot game/private lobby.
It also makes her stun do more damage and have insane cast range too. It buffs her Wave of Terror too, but the difference is negligible, but a buffs a buff I guess.
She's literally the best one iv'e seen with this item, but there's probably more, gotta experiment.

It doesn't improve the AoE, just the cast range.

viable, it's very viable on rubick because it's give a good buff to his 1 and 2 his ult is also get buffed

On topic: It could work I guess depending on who your enemy is. I can see it working if they have a lot of cc that outranges your spell steal, but blink is still core and you might want to consider a secondary item before the aether lens. It's nice though because you only need 900 something gold if you disassemble your boots.
