My build was bf -> moonshard and it worked great
but it's very greedy and requires you to have freefarm for the first 20 min
and void can't farm like am

^this restriction was not originally part of the game.
firstly, you could buy it. then, you couldnt buy it at all. and now, you can buy it and it doesnt work.
a long while ago you could get bashers on heroes who had their natural bash passives, and also stack them, and to see troll with double or triple basher was pretty common.
Battlefury void used to be a very common build, then it fell out of favor, not sure why, I mean I know why it's cus it sucks compared to mjollnir, but Idk why people suddenly realized that. I think the meta emphasis just moved more to fighting early and less of the "everybody farm for 30 minutes then join in a few big team battles." Plus mask of madness became a super popular void item a few patches ago, like before the sniper one when he was pretty good.
Battlefury isn't awful, but there's a few reasons why it's not ideal for void compared to AM and even PA.
AM has one of the lowest base attack times in the game (1.45, only jug and oracle are lower at 1.4. Standard bat is 1.7. If you're wondering well what's the big deal, it's like having 20 IAS off the bat so +dmg items go a lot further. Also AM's blink is a lower cd and only costs 50 mana so he can sustain it just with battlefury regen and blink around free farming like crazy. Also AM's ult is less than void's by 25, though AM's ult is not as crucial as voids. AM can still fight with ult down, void simply can't in most cases.
PA is a similar case to AM, her blink strike is a very short cd and provides much needed attack speed. It's also 50 mana only and her rank 4 dagger is only 15. She doesn't need mana for anything else. PA can go early fighter build or farmer build, her kit works either way.
Void has to conserve his mana to get his ult off. You can't effectively use timewalk for farming and it's a much longer cd than those other two hero's mobility spells as well. Plus void doesn't have anything to boost the +dmg component of battlefury. What he does have is bash so adding attack speed can help him farm better than adding a +dmg item. That's why mjollnir is so good on him.
Heck even jug with his crit and low bat does ok with battlefury. Void just doesn't make much use of it.
TLDR: Get maelstrom and crystalis and fight or go mjollnir to farm.
Better bat BAT doesn't synergise better in anyway with damage or as.
It's just a multiplicator.
If you have 200 damage and 100 as with 1.7 bat, adding 100 damage will improve your dps by 50%.
If you have 200 damage and 100 as with 1.45 bat, adding 100 damage will improve your dps by 50% aswell.
But AM's lower bat means he does more dps per point of dmg than void does even if percentage wise increases are the same.

im gonna build PA like AM, but then again, i'm pretty sure that build isn't so weird on her.
void buys bf to counter pl and tofarm, and farming void doesnt work well in an early teamfight meta which we see since 6.84
jugg buys bf to counter pl, to farm and to buff ult
am buys bf to farm bcz of 5 sec cd no-target blink, which makes him one of the fastest farmers in dota; the bat/dps has barely anything to do with the reasons of BF being a default item for antimage
Battlefury on AM, Battlefury on PA, Battlefury on Void?

What other reasons cleave during ult? Doesn't he only cleave the auto attacks? So unless you get a ton of ias as well what's the point?
BF is also a way to deal damage during Blade Fury.
P.S. It's also a common counter to Juggernaut by "sharing" his ultimate with nearby creeps, summons or other heroes. BF makes this kind of counter useless.
