No, the scene there is pretty much non existent.
They're into RPG's, platformer, Rhythm games/music games, and fighting games.
Fighting games are probably what they're known most for, Japanese scene has ruled that genre for quite some type, but the level of play in US and Europe is ever growing, actually. Part of the reason their so good at them is cause arcades their are still alive, and that nation is very dense, so competition is literally right around any corner.
