I'm a 3.7K noob, but for some reason i picture Dark Seer raping Pudge mid. LOL' That's the only time I'd see myself using that hero mid, which isn't saying much, I think he belongs offlane, that's his home.
The TA argument makes sense, Refraction goes bye bye thanks to Ion Shell, he can run away with Surge if anything goes wrong, and if that player isn't leveling her PSI blades (most GOOD TA players, including waga always get at least two levels of PSI blades early now a days, I did that ages ago though, so I didn't copy them) they're probably not gonna be harassing him very well. Couple that with his great base armor, it makes sense that people might think of using him against TA, not to mention he can just stand on top of her if she tries hiding with low HP thanks to Ion shell. But I don't even play the hero, so i'm talking out of my ass, i'm sure people know more than me.

I played against a Pudge mid today actually for the first time in like 6-7 months, yeah, he didn't do so well.

however the most compelling reason you wud want to put him mid wud be to dodge the offlane if needed i tihnk

shit against ranged and he doesn't need the farm that much even if you have a melee mid with wave clear like dk he can still get last hits or kill the ion shelled creep and then get some cs not worth tbh
He farms well in mid, can also go jungle. But there is no reason to put him mid most of the time.
he can lane well and farm yes, but I don't see the benefits of putting him mid over elsewhere enough to justify it unless you're running a specific strat

he can lane well in offlaner. he can farm in offlane with ion shell. i don't see point of him getting mid. better give that lane to other heroes that need it.

@TripleSteal, I play pudge mid and stomp 8 out of 10 games, other I lose and other one is a hard game.
ion shell doesn't get rid of refraction charges until rank 3. it just damages through refraction without wasting charges, but because ta's attack range is low early on, she still gets harassed like a melee hero would.
Maybe a good idea radiant against melee so you can stack camp also.
Still sounds unlikely.

In what situation a darkseer mid is viable? He can easily farm the lane with his ion shell then he can go and stack his camp and ion shell later or let the carry take it. Thought? 6.85 meta?
