What lane if you were a pro team would you run him? And ask yourself is there not easier options.
yeah indeed, but that could be said for lesh, and still he is 100% pick hero.

I'd rather have two heroes in late game unable to bb and death for almost 2, even 2 and a half minute, then bigger damage output in teamfight. But who gives a shit what I think tbh
lesh can rape the other 4 heroes while necro cant, plus reapers scythe has a long cd whereas lesh has consistent dmg output.
If you really want to pin-point something, the game has become more dynamic. Games may or may not be longer, but the emphasis on early game is greater than ever without rubber band mechanics (i.e. pre 6.83). Assuming you wanna run 1-1-3, there are much better options for Position 1~3 and Position 4~5 Necro simply suck.
With that in mind, Lesh/BB are better laners than Necro, no matter the lanes. And Lesh and can flash-farm faster though Necro does has the benefit of Ancient farming via aura albeit at a very slow rate.
Other than that, you can also attribute this to trends as there are not much changes to Leshrac and Necro, and what I had mentioned above are all applicable to previous batches (with the exception of 6.83).
It's cus necro has no skill shots/disables/silences. Lesh vs necro, lesh has way more utility, he has tower push, split earth, the slow on lightning. Bristle has an uber slow.
I mean sure, necro has a very annoying disable which also is very strong but necro has no stun and is single target only which also can get coutered by BKB and Glimmer. Teams usually prefer good teamfight or good croud control, which necro doesn't really offer.

Well, with rise of tanky heroes (namely Lesh and BB), why teams doesn't pick necro more? I mean he benefits long team fights, he has somewhat fast farming ability, is easy to stand in lane, and counters those "look me with 3k hp"heroes.
