Very high skill appearing on my friend and not on me in General Discussion
KUKULAMIN KA BUT THE K IS...

Can someone explain why certain games show up as very high skill on one account but not on the other one, (same game)

    SalaciousCrome

Could you provide and example of this please.

      Ples Mercy

yeah i've seen this a couple of times aswell. It's a weird bug from dotabuff.

        Trodlabundin

I've never seen this so might be a very uncommon bug, or you just trolling.

Why do you post this without providing any further information/proof?

          btw, I'm 8k mmr.

KUKULAMIN KA BUT THE K IS...

Sorry for the rushed post, I was playing while replying. Anyway thanks for the quick reply. Im currently recording every single game stat (gpm/xpm average) on my smurf account and see how much mmr I'd get from it.

                  Sir

It sometimes takes time for dotabuff to update what bracket should be shown for some reason its not based per game but per player.

                    Zahard

it means your friend is better than you Kappa//

                      SalaciousCrome

It showing as Very High on his account but not showing the bracket on yours is fine, the way you explained it was that it was showing as Very High on his account and just High on yours. Is this still the case?

KUKULAMIN KA BUT THE K IS...

^ It just got updated, very high skill on mine aswell. :D! Heres the link on the smurf account (Doom) http://www.dotabuff.com/players/188037047

here's my friends account (razor) http://www.dotabuff.com/players/100796485 (he's at 4.7k mmr)

Im currently sitting at 58 games (lvl 9) AVERAGE 470.47 XPM / 437.36 GPM though my KDA is pretty fucking terrible, thoughts?

                            SalaciousCrome

Well my thoughts are is that your current account is in a bracket you dislike (understandable) but these issue won't be fixed as all brackets present different kinds of issues that frustrate players and you will have to learn to deal with them. In my experience people that climb up through hard work on main accounts play a lot better than those that cheapen the experience through making new accounts.

I do want to clarify that I don't think you're all that bad, but a lot of your games display underlying performance issues and ability to understand heroes and how they should or can potentially be played as well as item utilization. On your new account your are immediately trying to jump into high skill cap heroes without the actual individual skill to play them effectively. Proof of this is your emphasis on XPM/GPM and KDA which are very small parts of what makes a good player over all.

                              SalaciousCrome

I know it may sound harsh but really quickly I want to show you some examples on where you devalue the importance of items and the game changing ability a lot of them have, as well as correctly skilling heroes on a game by game basis.

http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/876529110 You did good in this one
http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/876402736 BKB is core where the Scepter is luxury on Enigma
http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/876295042 No gale till level 3, and my advice is don't try and tank up as a support (IMO) mobility > durabilty when playing a support as a simple Urn or Mekanism will solve this issue.
http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/869945606 Mekanism is way better than Vanguard on Undying
http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/868211668 Vanguard Venomancer? Again building massively durable with zero mobility or positioning items.
http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/866692191 No last word till level 10 but maxing Curse and Glaives?
http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/862232638 I personally think you did decently here, though perhaps not maxing the leech early was a mistake.

....not going in too far but you get the idea of how at higher tier people make less and less mistake, whereas at lower tier you make more small mistakes over the period of a game which you don't realize will actually cost you or your team a lot more than you think. Making a new account will not fix these mistakes and you will continue to do the sames things just in a slightly higher bracket which greatly annoys a lot of people.

                                Just some things to ponder.

KUKULAMIN KA BUT THE K IS...

Yeah thats it, I just want to get out of 3.5k really bad right now. If 4k proves no change in play, I can easily go back to my main account. I basically got from 3k to 3.5k and it went on and on from 3.5~3.8 (very fucking frustrating) so this other account is pretty much my escape from my main.

KUKULAMIN KA BUT THE K IS...

Also I appreciate your effort on checking those out thanks alot! :D I was planning to hopefully reach 4k and spam support on that rank and see where it goes. Few days ago I found out that xpm and gpm increases your "invisible mmr" so ive been trying to hit decent xpm&gpms with the heroes I'm not really good with.

http://www.dotabuff.com/players/28926852 Coached from 3.5 - 4.4 in 3 months, and he worked hard to get there and he played hard to try and make the change.

Our first game together exemplifies the gap http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/733990462 this is where he started to improve and it took nearly 3 pages of games before the wins become more common place then the losses

                                      http://www.dotabuff.com/players/28926852/matches?page=24

                                      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Keep in mind I have coached people as low as 2.7 who are now sitting at about 3.9-4.2K who literally played really hard and took/applied a lot of the advice they were given and fought to improve. These are players who are actually worth their salt as they didn't just take the short cut to success as it were but changed their game, mindsets, and playstyles to get to a level where they would start

Players like this are a lot more valuable as DotA players as they haven't in a sense "cheated" their way to what I liken to a false degree. I could manipulate the educational system to getting good grades on a technical degree but when it actually comes down to putting what I learnt (or what my degree says I learnt) to practice, it won't be half as effective or even non-existent when compared to someone who put in the work and the time to understand the in's and out's of the degree.

                                      ...make sense?

It does, I just don't know where to begin. :D I need to get me some coach

                                        SalaciousCrome

I used to coach more than I played but this diminished when I started playing seriously for a couple teams and now put more time into playing then coaching. If you add me you can send me games from time to time and I will give you tips, if you learn from the mistakes I point out that is already a start.

EDIT: You have a friend at 4.7K, is he unwilling to help you or do you just do what you're told in games without understanding why?
