Losing streaks after climbing my way up in General Discussion
Rush

Pretty much when I'm about to hit 56% winrate I get hit with a terrible losing streak that just bashes me all the way down again. I started at 1209 mmr, highest I've been at was somewhere around 1510. Currently sitting at 1328. What can I do to have more impact on those streaks of horrible matches? I don't get why I can't keep the consistency going. Feel free to critique on anything about my matches.

    Wink

You get a lucky streak to a high mmr and then fall back down to where you actually belong

        Critique:

        Don't play Captain's Draft.

If you are at 1.3k I can only hope that the reason is that you do not know each hero or each item and are in the dark on many interactions.

Basically, play more, you will learn things in time.

        jo~

you buy way too much magic wands for your own good

          Wink

dont buy wand on supports, just use the stick, you will save 300 gold at the mere cost of 5 charges and 3 stats

            Androgynous

              "about to hit 56% winrate"

past 6 losses give you a 122-125 win-loss count (abandons count as losses) according to your profile.
prior to those 6 losses you were therefore 122 - 119

              122 games won out of 241 isn't a 56% winrate you numpty, it's only just 50%.

sometimes I wonder how people who are so incredibly bad at this game think of their excuses. instead of blaming your shittyness on "forced 50 / elo hell / shit teammates / 1v9" et cetera, (although in your case forced 50% would be benefitting you, which is pretty depressing), admit that you're awful at the game, admit that you could be improving, and then you'll actually be able to improve

              0-13-16 cm lol
              - copying ti4 bans in the retard bracket
              - maxing aura
              - GETTING AURA AT 1 WHEN YOU CAN'T EVEN USE YOUR MANA NOW, HAHAHA
              - getting ult at 6 despite having like a 300 mana pool by then
              - not giving wards to offlaner or at least placing your second starting ward somewhere top to help the offlaner
              - starting with magic stick
              - getting branches on supports, fuck off. get regen so you can stay in lane and protect your carry. 60hp, 40 mana and 3 damage is shit compared to an extra 400 HP from salve, and 140 mana from a clarity. stats don't do squat for supports early game, because they don't help you stay on the map. regen does.
              - sitting behind your carry doing fuck all and stealing his exp, instead of :
              1. pulling
              2. stacking
              3. harassing the solo offlane necro (he should never get a level in the offlane vs a defensive trilane)
              4. farming the jungle cos you're a CM - although you can't because you're stupid and didn't get frostbite at 1
              - not buying flying courier as soon as it hits 3 minutes
              - letting enigma's eidolons kill you cos retards underestimate their damage
              - 0 gank attempts so far
              - tping back into lane when you die instead of walking back, or going into another lane
              - finishing magic wand, instead of going for other items that are needed earlier and also more useful e.g. boots, tp scroll, smoke, wards, sentries, or dust. you're essentially wasting 300g on the branches + recipe that have no noticable impact in the early game.

and this isn't even 5 minutes in.

              http://dotabuff.com/matches/786146200 - puck game
              - retarded skill build, skipping phase shift until level 5.
              - evenly distributing points between q and w instead of maxing one of them. most popular skill build is 4-1-1-1 by level 7, or 2-4-1-1 by 8 if you need the silence for someone who has an escape ability like storm, qop or am, since the damage is the same.
              - skilling as soon as you enter the game instead of waiting till you need to use a spell, or checking your lane opponent
              - no blink dagger by 33 minutes
              - delaying your blink on purpose when you know your farm is shitty by getting bracer + treads
              - starting items : 1 set of tangos. if you want to rush a bottle but you don't want stats like a retard, you may as well not buy anything and you'll have bottle gold before your creeps even reach the river.
standard bottle rush build is 3 branches for early stats + 1 set of tangos if your teammates don't pool you tangos (or don't know how to)
              - starting your block at the t2 tower instead of where they spawn
              - not even blocking creeps despite having 5 seconds after creeps spawn to react
              - not enough harassment vs ember spirit, an extremely weak laner because of his armour and attack range
you have regen, so fucking use it. zone him out the lane. he can't zone you out because you're ranged, you have more armour, and you have tangos.
              - not checking opponents starting items
              - not standing closer to the creeps to reduce projectile travel time
if you have the same damage as him but his attack always lands first, how the fuck are you ever going to get a deny?
              - awful last hitting, go practice in a private lobby instead of wasting your time in actual games so you don't lose to retards
              - playing scared and missing last hits when ember is missing but has 0% chance of killing you alone. tbh even with help you still can't die unless you're too lazy to use ethereal jaunt
              - not killing the ember when he's diving your tower
you have 280 nuke damage at lv 4 so your shitty skill build would've worked in your favour for once, and even if you didn't kill, you would've forced the ember back to base, which means no one can contest your last hits for a minute or so (8 guaranteed last hits if you're not shit i.e. ~400 gold).
              - this made me laugh the most : CLICKING ITEMS INSTEAD OF HAVING HOTKEYS FOR THEM, holy crap.
              - goes to check bot rune at 3:57, goes back mid when the rune fucking spawns. like what the fuck. the rune spawns every 2 minutes every even minute number, why would you not wait.
              - not buying items with your gold
              - first item, 6 minutes in : belt of fucking strength instead of boots. fyi treads can be built with robe of the magi or band of elvenskin
(inb4 he tries to build treads with belt of strength + boots of + robe of the magi)
              - not killing the ember when you're 6 and the dp came mid. between you, you have 5 seconds of stun/silence where he cannot use fire remnants to escape
              - still missing last hits even though with your illusions you have a combined damage of 120
              - not using phase shift liberally when it costs 0 mana and has a 6s cooldown
              - doesn't finish treads at side shop, instead buys gloves of haste from main
              - 12 last hits and 10 denies by 10 minutes, lol

please let me play in your games

              :D

i like the previous comment so much.. at first i though it was just trolling but the arguments are so freeking good.
Also instead of blaming others just watch pro players replays, learn some stuffs and play.
Playing with better people makes you a better player try to find those and play with them :D

andro, you should hijack my analysis thread :D

                  Androgynous

                    maybe

i watched his games because i knew there was gonna be clowny shit going on, so it's actually somewhat fun, plus i only need to watch the game for 5 minutes to give people enough tips to last them hours.

                    Androgynous

you don't actually watch all the games from start to end in your analyses*, do you?

                                Metallicize

too much reply didnt read. get good at 1 hero, get 5k mmr, try other heroes, fall back to 1k mmr. glhf

                                  Rush

I appreciate all the replies, especially the one from Androgynous, I honestly laughed my ass off when I read all those horrible mistakes I made and I'll definitely read through it a couple more times to engrave that shit into my mind. This thread wasn't about some forced 50 theory or whatever those things are that you mentioned, I have no knowledge on that subject and just wanna improve myself. Your post is going to help me alot.

For now I'll try to choose a smaller pool or heroes to play with, but pay alot more attention to actual builds for those heroes, and watch videos to learn how to properly play them, learn who they're strong/weak against etc.. I'm also thinking about playing some more unranked matches, been playing ranked ever since I unlocked it, probably not the best idea.

                                    eXcel

Why not play ranked? If its harder youre more likely to improve.

Im on winning streak, this is the MMR i get now:

Go read hero guides on dotafire.com, those are perfect for beginners, they usually have more possible skill and item builds WITH explanation, all the basics you can ask for. Choose the high rated guides, they are usually a lot better than your own ideas. When you experienced enough with them, you can go for whatever.

Also watch XVRogue's guides on youtube (basic versions are on dotacinema's channel i think), or if you like him, you can watch purge's guides too. Dont watch and try to copy pros, youre not even close. Watch 3-4k players, get some of the 3-4k nice ppl from this forum on your friendlist and watch their games or replays, or you can just watch someone who is smurfing, to see how to exploit mistakes of retards in your games. If you can see and learn those, that can actually help you. But pls dont copy pros, not yet.

You can learn a lot from watching 4-5k players or streams but a lots of those things wont work in your bracket, first thing first, get up to 2.8-3k at least.

I love how the guy never blamed his team and you guys automatically say that he was blaming the system for it

"I don't get why I can't keep the consistency going"

This make it pretty clear that he was blaming himself
