No, because the difference between a 4k and a 4.8k player is actually quite large. So being in the same league isn't an option.
Why does 3-4k get subdivided into two but not 4k-5k or 5k-6k? A 3k and a 4k are much closer in actual skill than a 4 and 5 or 5 and 6.

Once u hit a certain tier, everyone seems like scrubs. Eg, u reach 4k mmr:
1k - scrubs that are so bad they dont exist
2k - scrubs that are scrubs to the scrubs
3k - scrubrinos
4k - scrubs that cant support
5k - average players
6k - u can stream but i will complain about how bad u play, kappa

Like they have it in sc2. My guess is that it would be divided like this:
1k-abyss, hell, welcome to dota 2 you suck(wood division)
2k-trench, dagon riki, sniper broken hero volvo fix pls, who needs bkb against zeus, what are wards?(bronze division)
3k-3.5k-omg I'm so pro my team sucks, I am the unborn son of dendi(bronze v2.0)
3.5k-4k- wow my teammates are actually not building arcane boots on sniper, they look decent(silver)
4k-5k- I've escaped from hell and I'm here to be serious.(gold)
5k-6k-these 4k scrubs suck, I'm so pro with my totally not bought account(platinum)
6k and above-oh I'm so pro, man I can't even handle my swag(diamond)
