When I queue with people better than me there seems to be less talking. I'm confused though, so are you saying that there's both a negative and a positive correlation between talk and MMR?
It just seems everytime I play with a high mmr player they never say a word, even when it sometimes needed. Then ones who comment, use banter, hooray, etc seem lower mmr. I'm guessing in a way the less emotional you are the more you win.
I notice that good players tend to be quiet in game, communicating only when necessary (unless they're in a party with friends they know from outside DotA, then they yak non-stop about their lives).

Depends what you call higher mmr. Most ppl I know who has like close to 5k are somewhat antisocial, or at least elitist about the game. Also played the game for soo long, they dont feel like coaching noobs anymore. On the other hand, the rly few I know who has stable above-5k are nice, leading teammates, etc. I feel like 4.2-4.9k is toxic, most people below that are either retarded kids or nice guys, and above mostly nice people or they at least abuse with some friends, you need SOME teamwork to get up there, so need to communicate to others in a way they will want to listen. You have to start tryharding, taking the game seriously and leave behind irl friends usually to get to 4.5k or higher, so probably thats why there are those annoying ppl. :D Some of them stay nice if they are naturally nice irl, but I know a lot, who are not... :(

In all my game
90% of the 4k5-5k --> talk all game long, give "advice" (wtf all their advice just suck) and think they are god while they clearly suck ball
almost all 6k + i met were friendly
and the behaviour of those people change linerary between 5k to 6k.
ofc as the mmr increase, those people write less.
I think its okay to be a quiet person, but once you step past the boundary of "Refuses to communicate with allies" you're going to start losing games because of that.
The same goes for being talkative, and being a flamer.

it's not really related to mmr but rather with person himself.
I usually voice chat a lot, but it doesn't really correlate to MMR.
Sometimes I am the best on my team, sometimes the worse.
At 3k the discussions get so retarded I sometimes google the words :D Been to over 4k in a couple of games and people were massive dicks everyone thought that they were RTZ and the other players had no idea what they were doing everyone knew everything and assumed that everyone else played their first game of dota.
