Thanks for your responses so far! Using Reddit and Dotabuff, I have roughly gotten 500 responses to my survey. I thought I'd share some quick statistics with all of you who are interested:
Average age: 20,64 // Only 3% of the participants are female // Most of you live at your parents (58%), seconded by roommates (20%) // Current job status is student for 63% of you // Average Solo MMR is 3589, Party MMR is 3688 // Competetive play: 18,4% Often, 29% Sometimes, 67% Never // Averaged role ranking (top to bottom): Offlane, midlane, carry, jungle/support, hard support
@yiran; I get that, but it was the best and easiest way possible to define hero roles. Also, not too much weight is put in this question, it may give us some interesting insights but I'm hoping to see more results in my predictions of MMR based on previous matches.

Hello guys,
As a Dota 2 player I enjoy the many aspects this game has to offer, no game is ever the same. As a student in Communication Sciences, I wonder what the relationships are between e.g. age & skill, satisfaction & win/lose ratio or a carry player and his fulfillment of the game. For my bachelor thesis, I am combining my interests.
I was hoping you could help me out by filling in a short survey (10 mins). I'm building a database, by using data available on this website from the profiles I'm gathering through this survey. With this database I'm hoping to be able to predict a player's skill or matchmaking rating and find other interesting correlations.
On my university, similar research has been done for Battlefield 3: http://www.psyopsresearch.com/ Just to give you an idea of what I am hoping to achieve.
Here's the link to my survey: https://qtrial2014.az1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_0UNZM6C9qXAHjKZ
I will ask for your Dotabuff ID. Your data will be used anonymously!
Feedback is appreciated! You can contact me on dota2research@gmail.com or via this Dotabuff account.
I will report back in a couple of months, when my thesis finished.
Thank you!
