A Melody proposal on the "abuser" tag in General Discussion
Jʌy Δshʙoʁnɘ

    To whom it may concern,

Currently as of now the abuser tag really serves no purpose. Players are free to create new accounts and abuse just as much if they wanted too. It doesn't prevent them from gaining esteem or "epeen" on a different account in the same fashion. In all honesty "being on a DB top list" doesn't really seem like much of anything, if anything. So with that being said, restriction of not having access to that doesn't really seem like much of a punishment if "nobody gives a fuck about it" to be blunt~. (My apologies)

The abuse system or abuser tag, needs a reworking. Either remove the "Punishment" or abuser tag and it's limitations, or create a new punishment. With this being said there should also be an appeal function for players that have stopped abusing as well. Some players like their accounts and have stopped abusing in "Low prio" and now focus on increasing MMR, rather than Dotabuff stats.

With this appeal feature, games that were abused should be removed from records. If you can detect that they abused, I'm sure you can do it multiple times. I will make no suggestions nor do I suggest you take suggestions on "other punishments" from the community for the "punishment reworking". However, I do insist you change or remove this "Abuser tag" because as of now, it's just wasting pixels on a screen.

    Thanks,
    Mel~

    Edit:

In a sign of favor for those that approve that a change needs to be made, please post "Signed" or something in that fashion, and post your name, steam id or your nickname in a show of support. I will be the first and hopefully not the last.

    -Signed.

so has the "abuser" tag been removed from DB then? I don't see one where people would usually have staff or verified.
or is the abuser tag just the "not eligible for top rankings" at the bottom of the page

^ That's what I'm referring too. Still here. Mod's will post if they make a change. (Least I hope lawlie/safe other lovely mods, would give me that acknowledgement. )

tbh im not really fussed, like you said no one really cares about the top ranking. i guess if im not against it, im for removing/reworking it.

if you're saying it's okay for people to party as 5 and shit on people in low prio as long as DB doesnt count the games towards their W/L stats, then I guess im for this idea.

                                          Unsigned.

Once a cheater, always a cheater. If we work on this, "oh well, they used to cheat, but they don't anymore, so they should be forgiven", then a cheater can just cheat until he gets banned, then ask for forgiveness and that he won't do it anymore.

I'm sure oleee444 or whoever would love this system, because his dream, as I remember, was to be on the top player rankings on DotaBuff.

Who is going to spend the time to sift through the games of an abuser and remove the ones that they think are abusing?

It's completely unrealistic for us to sort through thousands of games (most of which won't have replays) to filter "bad" games out for players who exploit the system and ruin games for people.

I'd rather spend my time serving the community and creating new features, not pandering to a small fraction that ruins games for other players.

These are ultimately issues that Valve is in a better position to improve upon. I hope they come up with some great long term solutions. Ours was never meant to be a permanent one - simply a way to discourage that type of behavior.
