General Discussionso... the 2k mmr difference cap is redundant, no?

1k is something okayish

2k is ridiculuos shit

it can be 5500 and 3500 players in same party

1k is also a big difference. I see big difference on me at 4,5k and my irl friend at 3,5k.

The thing is that it limits dota so much for parties and friends if you set the limit too strict. However I'd say ranked matchmaking allowing such a high difference as 2k mmr screws up matchmaking. Not that I have ever got matched with parties at 2k difference, biggest is 5k->3,3k etc. (~1k..) Which also screws up. I think ranked matchmaking should be more serious and strict it as Vaikiss said. Maybe around 500.

so long as it's only in ranked, this is meant to be a game to be enjoyed with friends after all

It doesn't limit anything, if you are playing with lower friend go normal not ranked
