Waaay to easy to dodge undying trilanes without getting punished for it (losing towers). Cant smoke gank, cant push, low armour and actually easy to burst
Trilane vs trilane? How you want to dodge it? Lvl 3 UD and they can dive. I really dont see why the pushingpotential of lion is better than UD's. He can't smoke gank, but exells at other aspects. Kotl isnt the best smokeganker, too and gets way easier beaten down to 0 hp than ud.
Dodge it by going neutrals, pressure mid and the other lane, stack ancients. All you need to do is pull the creep aggro back away from the tower and you can say bye bye to your push... even if you do get the tower what you gonna do with your lvl 3 undying bro? No one is going to be scared of smoke ganks coming from UD... lion at the very least has disables to prevent creep aggro pulls or have the map presence to make your opponents wary of lane rotations and kotl shouldnt even be mentioned..
he used to be really strong, but not almost every spell of his is nerfed. Gone are the days of +4 stacks of str steals & 500+ life rips. His tombstone get's 2 shooted now too. Just trilane got his number nowadays. He only snowballs if he gets away with a few early kills.
I still like him. He's a good anti-push hero vs. pugna/rhasta/veno push strat. Also good tri-lane defender and quasi-healer.
just depends on the team
right now gyro and luna are like top carry picks and that punishes undyin pretty hard if they avoid your tri lane
out of meta. he is strong, but he will eventually enter comp. we occasionally pick him in inhouse if both alch and bb are banned

I really dont see why Undying is not picked more often. With tombstone, a carry with stun/slow (sven, ck, ls, slark) and another support with slow stun (veno/cm/lion/visage) you could wrack the enemy trilane. They could never even attempt to fight back.
He has heal, a decent aoe nuke that makes him tanky. With the ultimate you stay strong during all phases of the game. For me a nice pos 4. He does waay better with some farm, but he does not need so much. Some stuff that makes him tanky is all he needs.
