Dude has the best steroid skill in the game.

Amazing early-mid game presence as well. If down-time is the reason when day comes, then Alchemist had the same issue. Nights last over 10 minutes when NS hits level 16 and he only has a down-time of 40 seconds during day.

    So what gives??

If you want to argue that Alchemist has greed, then NS has that amazing ability to win most early/mid game fights for his team. I'm not saying he's the best carry but why so much hate for NS carry?

    i left her

He doesnt farm as much as other carries and he drops off mid-late game transition. Imo if you cant snow ball its hard to come back as ns

people buy agh's first and get screwed over late game and end up Bogi'ing the game
atleast at my level that's what happens

he is a great ganker hero, no point leaving him to farm when he can farm heroes. The same thing happens with bounty hunter, you farm heroes and leave the farm for other heroes

          Wink

Can't farm efficiently, no escape mechanism, doesn't scale as far as any hard carry, has to snowball, making him farm is a waste of potential

I used to go 9-1 or 5-0 first night back when nighttime was 6 mintues. Nowadays with earlier night, it forces you to gank before level 6. Sometimes at 5 1/2 or 5. So you don't get double night on the first night. Also he's a team dependent lineup. No double stun lanes or dazzle for him in order for him to gank solidly. He's also one of the few heroes that needs the kills not to be KS'ed by allies. Also they HAVE to win THEIR lane after NS ganked once or twice. So he can rotate to another lane. I have 60% or so WR on NS. I haven't played him as effectively as pre-6 minute night.

BKB is almost required mid-late game and even with a good start and say 12-4 or 9-0 record, the game can still go either way if NS' carries suck or your team goes FULL KS on you. I've seen plenty of games where I go BKB/Basher and my team consist of 4 man gank squad trying to KS me.

There is no reason to send him to easy lane when you can send him.

send him what? oh the suspense...

In Russian we have one particular stable expression that sounds exactly like "Send him" when used as a suggestion in dialog about some 3rd person. Its meaning is close to slang "Fuck him".

NS's "steroid" becomes less and less effective as the time goes, that's pretty much the opposite of what carry-skills supposed to be.

                        @Flop
NS was one of my least liked heroes back then in DotA. But in Dota 2 he is too kawaii to miss.

NS doesn't carry as good because he doesn't have any skills that multiply his damage/tankiness rather than simply add.

Take Spectre for comparison - Dispersion at max lvl makes her 22% harder to kill no matter how much HP or armor she already has. This means that the effects of all your defensive stats and items are multiplied by 22%. NS's skills don't multiply the effects of his items.

Another one of Spectre's skills - the ultimate - multiplies her damage by 200% for a short duration (5 illusions do 40% of Spectre's damage each). This means she will put each damage item to much better use than the NS. (For the short duration of the ultimate, you could say Spectre has three times as many damage items as NS for the same amount of gold).

Simply, NS doesn't scale with farm as well as the hard carries.

Night stalker is a snowball hero and is better left mid or safe solo. Sitting a snowballer in a lane farming is under utilizing the hero massively.

NS isnt about farm... hes all about timing. The 4min day/night compounded with the lvl 9 exp hump has really nerfed him hard not to mention the extra gold per sec means its harder to starve out supports.

                              6_din_49

He is only good for pick offs, for 5v5 team fights, pushing / counter-pushing he is weak.

                                  1. no good passive skills for late game right click dps
                                  2. not agi hero
                                  3. no farming skills for easy 500+ or 600+ GPM

ns might be a quite solid carry if the 2nd skill is passive, or aura like omni's 3rd.

                                    Passive silence?

                                    Vandal

I just want to point out (though this isn't directly answering OPs question), I have seen NS sent to farm lane for trilane support/easy farm in professional dota. It worked pretty well in that game. The NS didn't just sit and farm all game, they were going for an early finish. In that sense, he really wasn't a "carry".

                                        @ epsik-kun

                                        i was thinking something like
25% chance rightclick attack causes silence and 50% attack miss for 2 sec during night
10% chance rightclick attack causes silence and 10% attack miss for 1 sec during daylight

or aura effect like omni knight
within the melee distance 100% silence.
10%/50% chance attack miss during day/night.

I have only played him once I think so I probably can't offer much insight. But going against him he reminds me of bloodseeker. Very strong and capable ganker, but while blood seeks out weakened enemies or uses his ult, nighstalker uses night time. But night stalker being strength I think helps him a lot more late game. He can go heart and basher and ac and with 80% uptime on night he can be a capable right clicker. I think he is fine as a second or even third carry. He's got decent utility.
