If you are not watching TI4 for the epic games but more because of the event, then that's too bad. A true doto player wouldn't mind that.

Sure production value of TI3 was 2-3x better than TI2 but they need to really mix it up a bit. I don't like the group stage current tournament lineup too. Draw strings next to alliance & navi ensure you're team basically screwed. I think they been hyping this b/s too much. Instead have round robin rounds and then players ranked up accordingly. Maybe even letting previous champions just automatically advance to semi-finals so more teams can join in? Reducing group stages also stops corruption and throwing and those ezpz brackets where there's like 1 good team vs. 3 unknowns etc..
You can't really compare the magnitude of the event to LoL yet. LoL as and will remain the biggest MOBA for a while. IMO Dota has done VERY well the last year or so, average numbers of concurrent players going from like 100k to 500k at peak times. Fairly sure LoL's numbers have stayed stable. We should be talking about the production value of TI5 at this rate.

@xan, whats wrong with cosplay contest? Its just a filler for the times when people have to wait for nothing, its fine when you are watching on stream, just go do something else, but if you are sitting there and waiting, why not watch some pretty underdressed girls? :D

Yesterday was watching rival LoL twitch stream with near 300k (295k?) at one point. They had it in an indoor arena. With nicely created stages. Shiny hockey size trophy with lighting. Also near jam packed audience. I was wondering if Dota 2 can do this. Since TI3 it's kinda obvious there isn't that much people there etc... bad presentation. The co-casters and commentators in this off angle wierd casting etc... So of more of a voice acting and artwork promotion than a true esports arena. Also plagued with no 'real offical host'. I mean Kacy Ackinson? did good but she lacked game knowledge or any real professional presentation like, "Tobi, BreakyCPK, Artosis" in their respective areas. etc... Also ending suck with old man Gabe handling the trophy up and stupid ending like some sort of hippie in a hawaiian t-shirt.
Something I would like to see in the upcoming TI4.
1) A true 1+ hour long documentary on dota esports. Not some random spliced pieces or kony 2012 b/s.
2) Instant replays like LoL with 10 seconds of last replay with slow downs etc...
3) Dota top 10 like gamer previews of some of the player's top plays not some random vods. Also their stats and shietz.
4) Multiple casters, not just Tobi/LD all the time etc...
5) Player interviews before and after games from valve & 3rd party people
6) Allow 2 wildcards in pre-event from LAN/etc.. of 16 like MLG etc...
7) Have a cosplay contest, 1v1 lan event, more dream team showmatches and modes (mirror pick, AP, only mid, pudge wars)
8) And finally a bigger ending. Maybe balloons or confetti and round of plause for runner ups too.
