My girlfriend mains support, while I main carry, she's got approx 50 lower ranked MMR than me.
If I understood your question correctly.
Probably like 1k mmr lower. At some point smurf detection fades away and it becomes +-25 for every win/loss like in regular ranked matchmaking.
KDA is not just Kill/deaths, support players can get high KDA because of the assists they can obtain

my brother has 4k MM too and I make him my ward bitch....
@sampson
the support can have a high KDA but his gpm and xpm will be at least a good 200-300 lower. This will factor into his mmr. Plus, you have to keep in mind that this is only considering if the one person plays just carry and the other plays just support
look at players like Notail, if players who played supports got ranked lower because their gpm was lower each game u would not see them above 5k.
If you take ALL the end game stats of any avg 4k player they would be higher than Notail easy but it takes into account your game impact rather than just the stats you see on the scoreboard
I play support only on ranked and I've been around the 3500 mmr from the first calibration game (currently 3585 mmr). My minimum mmr was ~3350 and maximum ~3610, in about 100 ranked games. I'd say normal matchmaking was quite accurate in my case.
@sampson
this is assuming you start from level 1 to 13 playing just normal games as support, then playing your calibration games as support. That is a totally different situation
^
which effectively means support gets shafted on, but my question poses how much shafting does the support get
Hero roles play an important factor in establishing the initial MMR. On my main, I play more 4th/5th position; 1st/2nd on my smurf. MMR difference was around 500.
Difficulty in dota 2 roles goes like this:
(5 stands for hardest and 1 for easiest)
5.Support/Offlaner
4.Roamer
3.Mid/Dual lane
2.Trilane
1.Jungler
Some people may disagree but that's not the point. The point is that chances are that a support player with 4-5k mmr may make it to TI4 but a semicarry or a hardcarry with the same rating probably won't and that's the difference. And that's why Dota 2 is the most balanced MOBA you will find out there, old school. And since you really want to improve at the carry role you have to know that especially in public, unranked games you should be able to take the lead sometimes and carry your team to victory even when everyone has a negative score or an even score and you are the only with the most kills in your team. And if you think closely about it, that is the ideal case for every carry player, isn't it?
4-5k in ti4?
omg... c'mon.
5.3-5.4k solo queue players who are on a losing streak ok maybe. thats the lowest any TI player is going to be. any if those supports on a pro team will still stomp 4k pubs with any hero.

If a support main plays with a mid main in normal matchmaking on fresh steam accounts all the way to level 13, the support will lose out on mmr because obviously his/her kda, gpm, xpm, etc will be much lower. How much lower do you think?
