Nope, the teams are most likely ordered by the length of your time in the queue. So pink had a longer or equal queue time compared to grey and so on.

I always wondered: what color is the gray position in dota 2? Why was it changed from gray to the puke-ish yellow/tan color?

pretty sure pink and blue have the highest mmr on the team, that's why they are captains too in captain mode. brown and orange are always the worst players in ur team

Pink and blue were confirmed to have nothing to do with mmr by several devs.

It's both mmr and queue time.

I was brown and had the second highest MMR in our team (only teals was higher).

At the highest levels of solo RMM, pink and blue do USUALLY have highest MMR because they have to wait the longest for barely reasonable match-ups. Queue time = position.

For the trench tiers that you and I are in, it isn't the same case.

I would expect that in the lowest trenches, pink and blue have the lowest MMR by same reasoning!　:D

For SEA at least, above 5.3k solo MMR you will begin to consistently get Blue unless you keep restarting the queue every time it exceeds 3 minutes.
