How would you punish quitters? in General Discussion

So IceFrog has just giving you the role as Warden of the Dota and you must decide what punishment quitters ge.

Quitter has got out of control in the past few weeks so would you change the current set up or do something else?
I have lost 3 in 24 hours due to droppers on my time so yes this is a rage thread but 5v3 is not DOTA, its a waste of time.

I would give a 2 hour bans for repeat offenders or ban them from being able to party up for 24 hours. Those who drop due to reasons out of their control would suffer but the pros outway the cons imo.

    Peekaboo

Depending on the timing of the quit, increse the MMR lost on that hero, and decrease it from the other players.
Like if you were losing 25 mmr, instead you'd lose 15, and that extra 10 goes onto the player that quit.
So they'd end up losing like 80 mmr everytime they quit.

      Chris.

        I would abuse that.

        Vaikiss`742.

          like old dotalicious

u get 2 free "get out of jail cars" each month

every leave gives u ban from game + minus points (mmr in this case) + warnings into ur profile

the more u leave the longer ban is

          starting with

          1st leave 1 day
          2nd leave 3 days
          3rd leave 7 days
          4th leave 21 day
          5th leave 31 day

that would decrease amount of leavers drasticly

          BenaoLifedancer

and it gets resetted every week or so? like u acn get many 2nd leave instances instead of 3rd

            .Ryan

48 hour ban from all matchmaking modes

Repeat offenders would get a month long ban

I think Low Priority is stupid

imo i have the right to quit when i search for 10 minutes and find people who cant lasthit for shit and go 0-6 in 5 minutes one of them being by solo hard camp auto attacking at level 1

                Yoichi Isagi | Blue Lock

Time ban doesn't work. They just have multiple accounts like smurfs do. It's like that muted thing. The get xxxx hours muted. They go play another account or some other game for a week then violate it again. Not sure what the quitter rate in dota 1 was but in Hon anybody with 5% leaver rate was WAYYY TOO HIGH.

New player account start out with 5 points, meanwhile people who play get [total games played x .5/abandoned games + times in LPQ] for points. They get 1 point per 10 games. They lose a maximum of -1 point per game they 'INTENTIONALLY FEED', rage or item abuse. People with 0 points are in LPQ. In LPQ if they get reported 2 more times (separate games) their account gets locked. IP address, mac-address, ipv4/6, ISP gets noted down and they can't create another account with the same PC/network card.

Also volvo incorporates snitching etc.. for players to snitch on multi-accounters. As well as double-check their accounts and warn them on Dota 2 about multi-accounting. Something like red screen says, "warning player X has been banned or LPQ, if you are found to be same person your account will be null & void etc..."

                  Relentless

Quitting games is punished heavily enough already. Doing more won't significantly reduced it. Though I would like it be more ignominious for those who do it.

What is needed instead is more rewarding of correct behavior. Commends still mean nothing. They have for so long people stopped giving them. I have less than 300 commends, almost exactly the same number I had 500 games ago. Commends should give you gifts (like "Bonus Rare Gift! You have reached 20 commends for Leadership. Click here to receive your Leadership Gift.").

Also they should attach things to your name for excessive abandons/reports. So if you were reported for Feeding more than 10 times in a month your name would become XXXX_thefeeder. Something like that. Such epithets would also have to decay like LPQ games, requiring a number of games of not being reported to be removed.

instead of low priority, ban them from ranked

                      thats all

                      Relentless

People are already banned from ranked when they leave a ranked game. Or did you mean permanently?

You cant blame them. Just accept the fact that there are people like that or maybe the circumstance they are in. Low prio is sometimes good. Try partying 5 against low prios. Sure win for me

                          一期一会

I agree with some of the ideas. What I believe is that for Ranked:

2 leave per week/month (however you like it)
Anymore that week/month will ban you from BOTH Ranked and Regular MM for 24/48/96/120/144 hours as well as deducting 10/20/30/40/50 MM rating points.

                            But for regular MM:

1 leave per week/month (however you like it)
Anymore that week/month will send you to Low Priority for 1/2/3/4/5 games and required 1/2/3/4/5 bot games of at least 30 minutes long (bot games because of lulz).

I believe there should be 2 chances for the Ranked portion since the consequences are more severe, but of course the consequences can be altered slightly for delivering optimal rage upon all those who screw with DotA2.

                            Wink

                              1st leave: Warning
2nd leave: 1 hour ban from MM
3rd leave: 1 day ban from MM
4th leave: 3 day ban from MM
5th+ leave: 1 week ban from MM

At the 1st of every month, the counter resets, but punishments persist.

To fix any possible abuse of parties:
If person 1 abandons, he gets his warning (or whatever punishment he is up to this month)
If a second person in the same party abandons, the whole party gets 1 hour MM ban
If there is another abandon in the party, the whole party gets 1 day MM ban and then 3 days, and then 1 week
(This saves who you abandoned with for 1 month, then the counter resets on the 1st)

This means that people like Vroksnak cannot abuse abandons, because as soon as 2 people have made abandons when in a party with the same people, they are all unable to queue.
