i win aprox 25~ on average
and lose aprox 30 on average
i win much more than lose tho playing only solo
only one sided games i get is when solo players plays vs stack
or when oponent team gets completely outpicked in cm/cd
I agree with you Sam. MMR is bullshit, you will never go up a lot but you can go down a lot. So your starting position before the patch is just everything and we have to live with it.
honestly before a discussion is started people need to prove that they passed grade 5 math class
Idk, I've gained ~200 in solo and ~300 in ranked since it came. But I do agree that the rating you get after 10 calibration games is really hard to get away from unless you play 10x times better than anyone you face every single game for 100games.
i earn ~5-15 per win, and loose ~25-45 each lose.
too much points i guess
1 months ago, it was rather +20 / -30
thats how it suppose to work but i think it should be reworked/changed for players outside of 5stack
Hmm I really do think they changed the algorithm. I only lost 7 points after someone abandoned on my team. And someone else on the team lost 8 points instead of 7.
No they didnt think about it too much sam.
I am pretty sure they will change some things and they will show more information, even Sampson knows that they will change some things, even if he insist on defending the matchmaking on every thread out here.
If the game is a stomp the probability of a bad matchmaking work in that particular case is higher, there is no discusion about that.
I think it mostly happens to average 5.5-6k MMR stacks .
When system match you against average 5k MMR stack, if you won, you got 0-5points.
If u lose, you lost 30-50 points.
I have got -59points in page 5 game and got 0 to 5points from winning page 1.
How much you lose or gain points determined by comparing your team's and opponent team's average MMR , whether it is one-sided or close game.
it is possible to lose/gain 50points in solo if you match up together with 4 man stacks.
Radiant vs Dire
5k average 4man stack + you (5k) vs 5.5k MMR 5 man stack (if you win you might get points more than usual)
5.5k average 4man stack + you (5k) vs 5k MMR 5 man stack (if you win you might get points less than usual)
It would be rare to happen though.
@ aiaiai caramba
if you beat a low rated stack you should not get 26+ points nor should you lose 26+ points losing to the top players. That is the ONLY change I think is needed

1st game 50% winrate stack
2nd game 57~% winrate stack
obvious differences in mmr gain and it makes clear sense (tbh both teams were equally bad)
you cannot determine MMR with win rate .

He got 5.6k MMR although he has 50% win rate.
There is no connection between MMR and winrate, my solo MMR isn't available yet, I don't even play solo, and party is 4.2-4.3k MMR atm.

This is a whining thread, but not the usual ones. What I wanna discuss is the amount of MMR you lose/gain after your games. From what I have observed , the more one sided the game is, the less points you gain if you win, the more points you lose if you lose. The winning part kinda makes sense, but the losing part is horribly wrong.
Normally when a game is one-sided, that means the matchmaker didn't manage to properly match teams. That means this loss was more Valve's fault. So instead of making you lose less points as a way of apologizing, they punish you for losing hard by making you lose more points. How does that even make sense? They seriously didn't think about this at all or something?
