i get invited a couple times a day even when i dont play well

I get an average of 1 friend request a day when I play Dota. I'm not that good I'm just in normal bracket, and I've get invites on days when I play badly. I was wondering is it normal for people to get so much friend invites? Are people that desperate for stacking in mm?
