Owning with SF requires good support. He needs the levels and farm that the mid lane provides, but he's squishy as fuck with no innate escape mechanism. One minute of bad warding is all it takes for you to lose ground.
stay back. wait for enemy to get low life. press E to last hit hero. rinse and repeat. I've really met people who play like this. and the surprising thing is they actually snowball hard enuf later on to go unkillable..

dont go deso on sf, manta only with a good team on your side and to juke, else stop at yasha!
The key to winning as SF is knowing the right items to build on him (i.e. sb, dagger, bkb, or yasha first). You can be really good with razes but you'll still suck at the hero because you build the same items every game and then wonder how you lost. Just something to think about
blink is never a good build on sf because u almost always need a bkb and even then u will need a 3rd item to do any damage since its already 20+min after u get bkb and blink. throw in the fact that if u are a farming mid that farm farm farm for 20+min in the current meta game (assuming u dont get ganked non-stop), it will be extremely hard for your teammates especially in pub.
shadow blade solves both escape/ult set up for sf and adds damage as well.

honestly sf's ult is the strongest nuke ever
if u explode directly on someone (phased on top of him) u deal 160 per line , and shadow fiend releases 18 lines at max souls.
thats a fucking 2880 damage on his face
blink works if you need pushing power and nuking at tower range! in other words finishing a game in the next couple of minutes with some of your teammates while your main carry is getting full with items and ready to take down the throne. else even if it is a 5 min dagger it wont help much due to tp help when going 1v1/1v2/chase!

as i once said to a guy, you only need attack speed and damage to rape with sf, nothing else! the hard part and reason im so good with sf is that i know how to move and position myself to do that!
remember if u just go bkb and shit people will only run from you and shit and engage once the bkb is over and by that time your att speed sucks and probably your mov spped and dps!

I've been playing shadow fiend since forever.
The key to winning is getting shadow blade as quickly as possible. Aim for 14-16 minute mark if you haven't got many kills. (that is pt and bottle as well) 20 minute at the latest if you died a few times. The earlier you buy it - the easier it is to snowball.
Forget desolator it is useless. I always go for yasha after shadow blade, movement speed and attack speed is key. Then if i see that the victory is imminent then i go straight for daedalus + dominator. If not then finish off manta and then daedalus/dominator. I rarely get mkb even if they do have heroes with evasion because crits are KEY to dealing high damage because of SF's -armor aura.
Also shadow fiend is great at farming. No matter how many kills you have you must have 100 creeps by 20th minute. Kills are not everything. Remember this 6 creeps = 1 kill in terms of gold.
Regarding bkb - if you want good KDA, get it. You will die less. But it doesn't affect anything else, if you position yourself properly you don't need it.

The key to winning late game with sf is getting high damage items. Desolator and assault are rubbish for SF. Daedalus and butterfly is what you need.
I rarely see blademail in games now, it is not very popular but it is not really a problem lol, just don't hit the person who has it on.. not difficult to wait 2-3 sec
why the hate on blink sf? It's viable, just play it correctly.
That being said, blink is a totally different ballgame from shadow blade.

SF is a horrible mid hero, get a good support like tide or venge who can reduce armor so you hit like a phucen truck in lane, after 12 souls you should rek' em in lane. I like going the ms build (Phase, drums) them into BoTs manta dominator and sometimes shadowblade.

so u would go phase, drums, then sell ur phase for BoTs? so after about 5k spent, u are still hitting only ~110 (basic damage assuming u have 36 souls)

thats the thing i dont sell phase so its pretty close to max move speed when i get yasha, i only sell them once i get a crystalis, dat explains my low ass winrate H@H@HH@H@
