Question directed at the admins: are you guys negotiating with Valve about the upcoming change? Are they going to enforce it on the main client? This change will ruin Dotabuff stats page entirely and will also make tracking DBR impossible when the change goes live. If Valve is not willing to hold on with it, are you considering a way to by-pass it somehow?

    What to wear?

Valve gave dotabuff access to the server/statistics. They can just as easily take it away from them.

I hope they realize what a great service dotabuff is doing for the community although there is a lot of people bitching about their stats being shown there is significantly more people that do want the stats to be shown.

Please follow through with it Dotabuff :D

I don't think it is purely coincidental that Valve decided to do this just 2 days before the dotabuff stats are released. My gut says that they are not big fans of the idea.

Well considering it is a privacy setting, it can be turned on and off by whomever wants it. It seems that Valve gave the option for privacy for the people that want it.

Just turn off your privacy setting when the patch goes live. As long as one person in the match makes it public, dotabuff will have stats for all ten players. If a game is completely private, then it's just equivalent to a private lobby game.

              The stats are meaningless then...

              d r u n k b o i s

why is it meaningless? assuming that a player's skill is not highly volatile it's enough just to consider the moving average.

@89.applesauce do you have proof that it will work that way?
This is direct retaliation for dotabuff going into places there not allowed valve does not want Elo shown they said that many times.

Default choice : private , to get 1 man Elo you need to know the other's Elo

I like to hear what the admin/staff of Dotabuff think about this and to thank you for killing a great website you guys are great.

You really think it works that way?
What would be the point of having that option then?
You get the stats directly from the server, no from your account, if the server wants, it will restrict that information of the private players to be collectible. Valve isn't that dumb.

when i said turning off privacy settings, it means making it public. Since by default its private according to valve.

DBR killed Dotabuff, not Valve. RIP dotabuff.com (stupid suicide IMHO)

                            Smokron

they were trying to monetize someone elses data with supposed "consent" from one valve employee. I'm not surprised this happened

                                this.
The main reason for valve to do this is to stop loosing players in future coz of DBR

private users will still not publish any match details for dotabuff to handle. 1 public user doesnt reveal enough info about the other 9 people to allow dotabuff to take their DBR into account.

But hopefully enough players put the option to public to make DBR calculations meaningful :)
I for one am putting it to public straight away.
