Why? i really need help, if someone leaves strong critisism, i welcome it, i really want to improve.
start playing carry..best way to rank up when playing solo is to play carry or mid atleast up to divine,,watch some gameleap videos or some pro replays..play and always learn..goodluck..
i hope you know commends means nothing. If you win a game you get 4 if you toss a commend back if you lose you get 4 reports.
Create a smruf and play for 100 hour, if ur POS 5 n 4 are good as u say it is, u will know where u stand actually. If it's double the MMR after calibration. Then leave that account
this is now your direct mentor for low level supporting to 3k

add him and tell him i sent you
Play in a party with good teammates. Solo games as support around 1k mmr is so hard because everyone is kinda running around the map with no unified objective.. also watch BSJ coaching sessions in YT, thats how I got out in 1k-2k trench.
Visit me Mullipullervo#0595 at discord and we can talk about how to get better games for u in great team
Idk how I win literally every support game while doing almost nothing. I literally got disconnected for 4 minutes in a game, did nothing for the rest of the game, and we still won (https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/5211662399). My core game are x3 harder.
Without looking at actual replays, I can already see some big mistakes on your last CM game (the game you played before posting here).
Skill build for example, 1 point frostbite then two points arcane aura?? Why? Start with mangos and claritys.. constantly send them out.. judging by that alone i can see your laning isn't the greatest, which is a HUGE part of support. Why use the strongest point of your game to give your teammates 1 mana regen at lvl 3.
I know a lot of guides say frostbite first, and in some cases it is ideal, such as a Windranger offlane but your peak as a support player are these early moments, try taking Crystal Nova first, hit two heroes with it, thats 260 dmg. With clarities and mangos you can spam this a lot, the damage adds up.
Ok, I am watching the replay of that game. Your starting items are pretty bad.. you went to lane with 1 tango and no mana regen.
You spent the first pre rune fight without using a single skill, the oppositions lion at this point has already used two stuns. So both you and DK are below 50% hp before the game even starts, and you get bullied from the rune so it was all for nothing. Consider just going for the other rune
First ranged creep gets denied by opposition.. I hope you see where i am going with this.
This has all happened before 1 minute has passed on the clock.
By two minutes you abandoned your DK, to go stack a camp.. not the pull camp mind you but a jungle camp (I am not completely against this as you had an SF mid) but doubt it's optimal. You then proceed to pull a single camp, now your next wave will have two ranged creeps pushing the lane..
Neither you nor DK at this point have any form of regen and you don't seem to be sending yourself any either. How do you plan on winning this lane? By this point, I would of done about 6 crystal novas on the enemy
At the 3 min mark, you hide in the trees not attempting to deny or harass, just leeching DK's xp.. then proceed to make another pull but your timing is off.
You now proceed to harass, but should be aware there is no chance of killing the enemies at this point, so should probably be stacking that pull camp.
5 min mark you make a play for both runes, this is perfectly fine even though you die. It gives DK some breathing room as both heroes chase and you secure one of the two.
6 Mins you make a play against the lion, but since you only have frostbite (small cast range) and arcane aura he manages to just walk away and you end up dying trying to chase him.
So without watching any further, I would say work on your laning stage. You have skilled frostbite into double arcane on past three CM games and i'm guessing you routinely do what I saw this game. With your own courier there is no excuse not to be ferrying regen to yourself and harassing the enemies a lot.
Thanks for the replies guys, i can tell my item choices are not great, the reason i go with arcane fully first is i usually find the core getitng dove upon a lot so i need mana for the save, and clarities get cancelled out if i stay in lane, if i dont stay in lane, the carry dies because they go gung-ho. I honestly gave up playing carry a long time ago, if i was safe line, i would always find myself pairing up with a pudge or something silly that would lead to me losing the lane, ill try and take on board a lot of the critisism, i dont want to make a smurf account because for me, smurfs are a lot of the problem in this day and age and dont want to add to that, again, thanks guys for the helpful words and ill see where it can take me!
Sorry i edited my post after your reply, so not sure if you saw what i wrote. Just be more aggressive as a player, eventually you will learn the hard way what you can and cant get away with. The easy fixes are the skill build and item choices and I think that advice alone will raise your MMR a lot. Good luck!
Position yourself better when using claritys so they wont be cancelled, I often use it when my mana is exhausted and will go to make a pull or stack. Alternatively just get mangos, very good item. I tend to get both, and use accordingly with the situation. You are running out of mana because you aren't using your courier efficiently, after the runes i'm already sending myself items on it. You need to buy more consumables.
If your carry is getting dove on, it's rare that 1.5 second stun from frost bite is going to save him, and the 1 mana regen def isn't saving him. Having some mangos and freezing then slowing is going to be a much more effective way at keeping him safe.
Another benefit of having crystal nova in your arsenal before level 4 is securing ranged creeps, often the creeps will be positioned in such a way that the ranged creep will be denied, use your nova to secure it and do some damage to the enemy hero about to deny it.
When pulling or away from the lane, use your chat wheel to tell your carry pulling (can be changed in the chat wheel settings or to be more careful)
If you wanna play pos 5 i highly recommend you to learn to play Winter Wyvern. Best support IMO. I was gaining mmr easily playing this hero. Also i would sugest you to play Warlock. Learn those 2 heroes good and i think you can get to 5k easily.
This is just my opinion.
Good luck :)
Thanks guys! and yeah, 'wholesome threads' are welcomed, i came on this website as i thought i wouldnt hear toxicitiy but rather good feedback, was plesently reaffirmed :)
nobody flamed this guy yet? sad
i see a lot of "you should play core" suggestions, you never learn anything about dota guys, do you?? yet you feel u are full of shit to guide others
just dont mind the dogs who keeps on barking in here..loves to flame but actually got destroyed by a freaking 48% winrate archon mid..KEKW
Nothing wrong with being helpful, even if it is another 'my team is why im low mmr' threads. I don't agree with the play core and you will go up in mmr ideology though. There are core players stuck at low mmr as well.
Though OP, you have to understand that you are asking to be flamed with your initial post. Nothing is more annoying than that team member who flames every mistake you make, and really thinks that the reason they aren't gaining mmr is because of anybody but themselves.
i hope you know commends means nothing.
yes, exactly. every time i have core with 10k games 1k commends i wanna bash my head to the wall till game ends. means nothing at all!
The commends don't track properly though, on this account i noticed at around 40 games I had 400 commends.. that's not even possible.
If you wanna play pos 5 i highly recommend you to learn to play Winter Wyvern.
Out of the rank comparison thing (you are divine, im trash legend what so ever), WW is double edged and he can easilly fuck his team with a bad embrace or a bad ultimate.
From Tyskie analysis, advising warlock as you did seems more legit.
start playing carry and play in party ranked. in your mmr its you who needs to carry the game. once you hit 3k mmr you can play supp back.
I suggest u play with a higher ranked core player and lane with him. Ask advice from him what you should do whenever you feel insecure and ask him why not just follow instructions.
Watching pro games like the rest of the losers in this forum does nothing because pro games are more team strategic and much more complex than pubs
Idk about this kowareta, every time anyone writes anything he jumps to conclusions and doesnt even think. Autist identified.
I have 4k games and 7k commends. Commends are often swapped and people who play in parties dont receive commends at all. Some people dont care about commends at all.
When that guy said commends means nothing he simply meant it means very very little. Is it clarified for you now to understand?
Whats worse is when people at low mmr bracket mark how many wins they have with high skill heroes instead of win AND losses.
Like your 100 wins with invoker will create good picking phase mood when everybody else knows you probably have 150 losses aswell
Got nearly 11k commends and I'm one of the most toxic player that ever walked this earth.
Even the fusion between Tyler1 and Blitzspanks is less toxic than me.
=> Commends mean nothing.
Toxicity doesnt mean anything, if they are too toxic i just mute. My commendations are based whether i think the player played well or not.
The midle eastern can say kose nanat, muther fucker etc like the dogs they are, they just get muted id bever waste a report on that basis when there are so many bad players and game ruiners
Toxicity is not only words :)
Sometime there are some bodyblocks, some force staffs or other things that are made on purpose :P
Also OP, despite the advice that was given, you have played 3 more CM games since.. and every game has skilled 1 point frostbite into two points arcane aura and have the exact same starting items..
Why ask for help if you don't take it on board, though i did notice you are now buying more consumables which is a +
If you wanna play pos 5 i highly recommend you to learn to play Winter Wyvern. Best support IMO. I was gaining mmr easily playing this hero. Also i would sugest you to play Warlock.
WW is one of the most tilt-able pos 5. 1 bad curse will turn the fight against your team, people will blame u and causing team morale to drop, thus losing the game.
As warlock, it is a kind of baby sitter hero, make sure u have some good carry to complement with it, also the golem cd is way too long, if your team lack of disable. Once it is on cd, u just can't do much.
As for CM, u can go frostbite on lv1 (i doing that most of the time as well), but if u want to go for a kill / harass, u will need crystal nova at lv1. Thus, it is best to have all 3 skills with a value point on it once u hit lv3 (Frostbite > aura > crystal nova). Try farm some neutral creeps with ur lv1 frostbite (a bit of income is always welcomed), just make sure u don't leave ur core at dangerous position when u doing so.
Have strict matchmaking option enabled if u like playing solo like me.
Just following up to this guys, im 1 win away from breaking 2k mmr on support, ive found that reacting to the map better and staying with the core in the first 8 mins is really working out for me, im on 15 wins in 20 now and am finding myself with heroes ive barely played actually doing quite well just following the fundamentals, i still havent played core as i have nightmares about the last time i played it, having pudge as a hard support etc, ive even been seeing going into games, the opponents safe lane support is a pudge smh and we usually win the game.

Im currently at 1760 MMR as support and am finding myself averaging around a 50% win rate, I constantly play Hard support as a true Pos 5, stacking camps, leaving farm, saving core, warding up, but time and time again, ill join a game (which is inevitably lose) where my safe lane partner is something stupid like Legion Commander, or Dragon Knight, or Pudge, and when playing in the Pos 4 role, i will find myself being partnered with an invoker, or silencer etc. I dont understand what i can do to increase my MMR when i believe i play a great game for my skill level and am constantly let down by my partners or people picking horrible picks for their position, can someone take a look at my last games and tell me if im crazy or if this MMR bracket is full of toxic players? P.S i Currently have 840 total wins and 4176 commends, that like 5 commends a win, i must be something right?
