Not in the prior matches ofc since you had only one courier for the whole team. Now there's a separate courier for every character on either sides, radiant and dire. Similar to Heroes, couriers now have levels that'll be equal to your hero's level in the game, with couriers having less hp and Movement speed at early levels, but will increase as the game progresses, making the. couriers harder to snipe. I think that's what pos 4 Ams have been doing. To take advantage of the low ms and hps of the couriers in the early stages of the game, by sniping them snd gaining gold for themselves and the team.
I can’t imagine this is going to hang around for too long. It’s one thing for everyone to have a courier in turbo but a super slow super weak courier in all pick so couriers are constantly leaving the base makes courier sniping like this and for furion etc way easier. Just TP out at the start and put a ward on the cliff at the enemy tier 2 and you can easily spot and snipe both the safe lane carry and supports wards by tping in on top of them (or vice versa for the offlaner/pos4).

I'm watching a live game with mostly ranked Immortal players and there's an AM doing a really weird thing. He's nominally playing position4 but he's mostly just hanging around the entrances to the opponents base sniping couriers. He has to have sniped 8 or 9 the first 15 minutes. Is this a new thing, or has this been played in prior matches?
I have to think this has something to do with the new courier mechanic. Kind of interesting to watch, though. it's sort of like watching a good techies game or an axe who is really good at cutting waves.
