Why is the Radiant pull camp spawn box so fucking large? in General Discussion

Can anyone explain the reasoning behind this? Two sentry wards should be enough to cover the entire spawn box without blocking it. So many times this damnable spawn box has pissed me off.

Yeah, cause everyone on Dota buff knows the answers to a question only a Valve map/Dota Dev designer would know.

Because it was traditionally done like that in DotA 1 and they never touched it. For some fucking reason.

Most of the spawn boxes are really weird. A lot of camps can be blocked by placing the wards behind them, which doesn't really make sense. But it's just something from w3 DotA that no one has bothered to change.

I also find it funny that you can pull the dire medium camp (the central one) at like :58 and still succeed, if you cut one tree. But it's really fucking hard with the radiant hard camp near the rune. It has such a ridiculously huge spawn box that your timing has to be on fucking point, blink and you will miss it.

The worst one imo is the medium camp next to radiant midlane. Not sure if it's the box being too big or the creeps' movement limit being too short, but the timing for it is a lot later than other camps.

Stacking on radiant side is so much worse than on dire actually.

^The funny thing about that one, it's much easier to stack if you actually cut some trees behind, you have like 4 secs of timing window, or something equally crazy, if you do that. But this requires that you're actually a dedicated jungler, and not just passing by, so it's not really practical all the time. Cutting trees to the side also works, but if you're ranged you can stack both large and medium camp if you cut all the trees to make a path between them.

^The reason why cleave ignores armor value is because that was a limitation of the wc3 engine. Else they'd have to completely recode it and it would not work that well, so they opted to use Pit Lord's (wc3 hero) ability cleave, which ignores armor value, but not armor type. You know, like it does 15 years later, in DotA 2 :/

                    plz do

dunno, mb it has something to do with that dire's side lanes supposed to be better to compensate for radiants mid lane.

if u place 1 sentry on the tree spot (which u cut in advance), and another one at the same vertical line on the bottom border of the spawn box, you'll get all the possible ward spots except a very very small triangle which is a retarded place to put a ward in anyways.

the reason is the 2nd camp which can be pulled by both offlaner and supports on the other lane, but is available only for second pulls for radiant here.

@ Triplesteal any screenshots illustrating the ward placement you speak of? In this image (I know it's old), there are plenty of large caps that are left open if you put down two sentries: http://i.imgur.com/3Obdd3M.jpg

this pic doesnt give any of the ward positions i was talking about.

you cut the middle tree on the upper border of the spawn, place a sentry a liiiiitle bit below the tree spot, and then u put 2nd ward on a similar position but on the lower border of the spawn box.

btw the actual spawn box is pictued wrong there, afair it myself. its a bit smaller in the down part of it.

i dont have pics, but i remember ive seen smthng like that in NS's guide about warding - its in russian, sadly.

I feel like that will leave the top left corner of the spawn box that blocks 2 camps open to a ward but ill try it out

it certainly covers this spot, as well as the other more or less common spots; im pretty sure about that.

Ok cool, now please tell me how to counter an offlane Doom in lane with a dual lane plz

                                      TripleSteal-

                                        suffer :)

zone him early on (both supp and carry), dont let him get access to jungle (supp), play agressively (both), get a stout shield and boots asap harras him whenever possible (carry), dont let him get exp w/o paying with his health (both).

                                        B4N3

I was thinking maybe Lion to drain his manas to he cant Sorched Earth

                                          TripleSteal-

mana can be quite a huge problem, but Id say clever doom player would get a manga against Lion or AM

                                            Metallicize

he would get a manga to masturbate
