It works the exact same way ranked does except people don't know their ranking and they are generally different types of players.
Same as ranked but hidden, and winning doesn't effect your rating but does still continue to count towards your hidden MMR.
Your ranked score is let's say 4K but if you are losing a lot of normal MM games then your hidden MMR might be a lot lower than that. This is my understanding of how it works on a basic level.
There is a severe difference but I feel it might be more dynamic in finding results. Unless there are fewer people playing it, so it grabs a wider range of people.
Ranked is already dynamic. A 3.4k player could face 3.9k to 2.8k in same game. I would expect normal to be far worst. Pitting first time players with 1000+ wins accounts.

Is it completely random random players? Ive tried it and people have said on my team that they are 2.5k before. ?I'm confused how normal matchmaking works now. Is it the same as it use to be?
