Also in lanes, but mostly mid, against a good kunkka what do you do? The range on that cleave is ridiculous, if you are a ranged hero you can last hit and deny to your heart's delight but eventually I run of out heals and get pushed out. I know I'm doing something wrong.

My example is I was viper vs kunkka mid. He kept running up to hit every time cleave was off cooldown. At first I tried backing out of cleave ranged but was not able to effectively deny doing that. So I started taking the hits and orb poisoning him every time so he'd take dmg, but he was content to run far out of range, let me farm until he eventually cleaved me out of lane. My farm was a lot better than his so I bought extra heals but it was a pretty even mid all n all and I'd really like to know if viper should win there, or what heroes would crush kunkka and how to do it.

In lanes would you apply the same strategy? Lanes seem easier depending on his support because your support doesn't have to last hit and can harass easier. It's difficult to avoid cleaves, harass him and last hit/deny at mid.

kunkka has low armor and low agi gain, harass the hell out of him.

he can't win against ranged heroes if he's not bottle-crowing. And viper wins against pretty much every hero..

how does he walk up to hit anything against a viper

do u realize u can just sit behind creeps and not let him approach at all

              waku waku

try standing not behind the creeps, but to the left or the right of them

OD rapes everything except Viper and Alchemist.

If you're Puck, you can just Phase Shift out any time he runs up for a last hit and has a glowy sword.

For ranged heroes, the key is to just harass the hell out of him and deny him rune control. Kunkka has no mobility and is (for a strength hero) not very tanky. He's somewhat vulnerable to ganks because of the lack of mobility, so as long as you can juke the torrent he's an easy kill if you have some help.

Well he got a lot of hits in cus I'm not very good at mid. This guy hanged back really far, simply ignoring last hits/denies until his cleave came off cooldown, then he'd run up for one blow. I should've stood more to the side I guess. I guess it's worthwhile to just harass him and miss a few last hits? When he goes to get runes, should I try to get them first, follow him and harass or sit and free farm (assuming a range who doesn't bottle like viper)?

Even though you are most likely not going to get a bottle, you should still look for the runes as Viper.

Haste means a kill on a sidelane with decent allies even before you hit level 6 and almost a guaranteed kill on a jungler.
DD will give you a really strong advantage against your mid opponent and almost a guaranteed kill if you are level 6, be it in a sidelane or against your opponent.
Rege...well, it's regeneration, better not give it to your enemy and make all your harassing go to waste.
Illusion is limited to mind games without enemy wards, but still, don't give it to your bottling opponent.
                          Invisibility explains itself.

Viper is a pretty slow creep farmer anyway, he was designed to farm heroes, not creeps.

Skill 1 to kunkka, run back, push back w/ skill 1 to make kunkka back. Just keep ur eyes to low health creeps. Don't face with kunkka even in back of ur creeps. Maybe that's helping :3

This may seem counter-intuitive, but if you are a ranged hero keep the distance close so that you have a larger margin to avoid his Tidebringer, because if you are standing near your ranged creep it will be nearly impossible to avoid. Get either the better block or a high ground ward on his side and your life will become alot easier (for as long as the creep wave stays on your side of the river)

just put a ward uphill and u'll be fine, u can hit him from dowhill and zone him like np after that
