Because pubs knows how to deal with pushes; OR
Because pubs are generally fuckin' horrible at splitpushing; OR
Splitpushing takes lot of skills in being at right place to right time, doing things at RIGHT time, which pubs aren't good on

Splitpushing does that skill, mr 3k mmr boys who thinks splitpushing is for noobs

He is op in pubs for me!

He is in pubs if you push when teamfights happen, going treads -> vlads -> necrobook -> bkb is usually enough to take you through the midgame. he might not be the usual "omg rampage carry", but he helps the team a lot by getting tower gold, which gives the whole of your team gold as well, which you can use to equalise if you're behind/take an even further lead

additionally (seeing as we're both in normal skill) a lot of players still dont TP back to defend a tower, meaning if the whole enemy team is fighting mid you can almost guarantee taking a tower, maybe even 1.5/2 before they respond. obviously as the skill bracket goes up it'll be harder for you to splitpush, but even so his ability to actually hunt and kill heroes shouldnt be underestimated

I cant say anything cause i am not really a rat dota guy, my friend who is usually worst than me at every hero in dota is actually better than me with lycan, he ONLY rats the entire game with necro deso and ac

He is strong in pubs but he's stronger in pro scene because of farm. Pros know how to farm then push. Pubs take too long to get operational and also build poor items. Also a ratter in a pub is leaving the rest of his team 4v5. Pros can handle this, many pubs can't.

Whenever I play lycan I always feel very strong at any stage of the game. Seems like you can just manfight anyone 1v1. Which means you're going to get killed by slardar, troll warlord, PA, and Sven in stupid ways.

I hardly ever fight heroes when I play Lycan, I get vlads and MoC and Rosh then get strait BoT's and just push any open lane. See trouble and ulti up and run.

pubs are just retarded and believe you get items and when you have items you group up as 5 and walk down the mid and whoever wins that 5man fight wins the game.

So to a hero with low impact in the early phases, you just watch your enemies get fat as you farm. Then later you find that sneaking around isn't that easy when your teammates are getting steamrolled. And they can't even buy you 20 seconds worth of pushing. Which ain't enough cuz all your lanes are pushed in.

lycan is good in pubs
but the best heroes in pubs are generally the snowballing killers, and that's because it's easier to find kills in pubs than in a serious game. pushing is a bit harder, because defending towers doesn't require as much map awareness as surviving vs. a fed slark, for example.

lol destroys most mids. what sort of mids do you play against? picture yourself vsing a lycan mid instead of a lycan and tell if me you're being destroyed. i dont see a decent bottle crowing mid being destroyed by a lycan. much the reverse.

and face it, most pubs play lycan as safelane farm into jungle into rosh and rarely join fights. thats why he feels weak there, people over-rat him. you might be amazing but most aren't with him. hence lycan pub = weak.

Pub OP /= OP in pro games; there's always people who are generally bad and others specifically playing them because they're 'OP' and failing at it. I mean I'm pretty sure Timbersaw's pub OP but his winrate's damn low.

I got a lycan mid, it was really easy to deal with because the hero is dog shit in mid all you have to do is have a lane sentry
