I played Io recently, do as follows:
mark jungle Legion Commander, this generally forces someone to pick a pos 5 babysitter hero
After the pos 5 is picked you can pick your wisp and ask for a strong offlaner so you can dual offlane and shit on their safelane
Don't go to your safelane, even if they are being shit on by a broodmother or something, you can't do much. Either swap lanes or stay with your offlaner and make the enemy safelane suffer even more so both pos1 are shit in mid game
Hardly ever happens but if marking Legion Commander jungle doesn't result in a po5 pick you will probably lose anyway since none is willing to support. Just play pos5 yourself and pick Io in the next match :/
You will have to buy some wards anyway, don't be a cheap bastard
Io is probably one of the hardest heroes to win with, specially in solo queue, I only play him when my friend is the strong offlaner, good luck
Ya need to have a reliable core. As a support Io is essentially a booster for a core, If your cores are bad then... It'd be better for your sanity to pick another hero. Pls always commend io pickers to encourage them.
Simple, only support carry who is reliable and ignore other carry. Works well for me.
