Can someone explain how to re-calibration of the medal works?

-What if the you achieve a medal Divine 1 from a Ancient 3 medal, then after that your mmr goes down back to ancient 3 tier or something like that then does it mean that when u play re-calibration your medal calibration will go back to ancient 3 not in divine 1?

so recalibration is divided on seasons or it counts 6 months for everyone individually?
