Making a Team. in General Discussion
Socially Acceptable

Hello, I'm Socially Acceptable, and I've been wanting to make an amateur team comprised of respectful and relatively calm DOTA 2 players. My goal is to get five people together, of which, one person would be designated as the team leader, who can meet up online at least once a week (or more) to practice and maybe eventually participate in amateur tournies. The number one requirement on joining would be that you're respectful. I want teammates who are understanding and willing to forgive each other when we have bad games, and who don't lose their cool too easily. This is a game, after all. The second requirement (and one that can be negotiated) is that the minimum rank would be Archon, but I don't want to exclude anyone higher up from joining. Things like the name of the team, graphics, and roles can be determined once I have a good set of people who are interested. I would like to perform interviews/auditions tomorrow at around 12:00-14:00 (or 2pm) Pacific Standard Time, January 22nd. Please send me a friend request, reply to this post, or get a hold of me if you're interested, would like to join, or need more information.

    Thanks in advance,
    Socially Acceptable

      Can I join?

      I can’t add people.

      They need to add me.

What chance would a team have when players <6000 mmr in amutur tournaments

                      Socially Acceptable

So, there's no harm in playing and trying, even if you might not have a chance.

And I wasn't sure what tournies to join, although, dotafire has ones I've heard about. Will get around to inviting those who are interested soon.

Yes u can I'm not trying to discourage you but u Should probably get experienced and high skilled players

Low MMR tournaments are missing from the dota ecosystem. more battle cups needed. you don't need to be good at something to enjoy a more competitive environment - just look at real sports and the plethora of sunday leagues etc. to see how it should be done.

Making a team isn't right or wrong. What matters is that you learn and if you do that by making a team then do it, but if you're doing it because you think you're good then it's a waste of your time and energy at archon level. I get the feeling you're doing it to learn, though so good luck to you.

Very good discussion and wisdom, everyone. And yes, the main intent is to learn and help others to learn. I made the mistake of playing league for awhile, and it set me behind the knowledge curve.

@triple really? where are they? genuinely curious. are they not swamped by smurfs?

Exactly what I need. I've always dreamed of playing with four teammates who can just keep their cool, assholes who don't vocalize their shitty attitudes. I NEED this. You are even aptly named. Hope there's still slot for me. Again, I need this.

i barely recall anything cz we didnt play there
rd2l is a solo ladder, i think (?), and it definetely has a skill cap
ad2l used to have divisions based on mmr
echo league is good for lower mmr teams
                                                    jdl has div5/starter

                                                    TripleSteal-

                                                      and faceit daily cups, actually

                                                      HEAVY HITTERS

Quick tip: Learn from yourself by analyzing pro replays (How they push, what they buy, when they buy it, who they gank etc..) I went from 2.3k to 3.2k with this acc and that's just playing with solo q. Also map awareness is the REAL KEY in the 2k bracket sir. I've been playing dota 2 for a year and a half now and just so you know my first mmr was about 1.3k and got tired of being intimidated by my 3k friends. Getting good at dota 2 doesn't happen overnight sir, especially when it's your first MOBA game. It happens naturally I guess because that is what I thought when I reached 3k. Hope you find your team tho best of luck
