You need 4000+ hours in dota and constantly play ranked to reach high skill,5000+ hours to very high skill,but before you hit this wall full of glory-holes where icefrog waiting behind with nice reward,you become single-strait doto think person with no real friends,ignorant asshole with tousands players muted which each of them make you more lonely person.
^Wut. I bounced around in high/very high a lot last year with like 500 hours. It’s all about overall mmr of the teams, so don’t worry about that, it will only change over the span of hundreds of games as you progress

vhs is 3800+mmr ish
high skill is like 3000-3800
normal skill is everything below that
or something like that :)
in dotabuff, vhs is more than 4000 MMR I thought,
Since my average is around 4900 and still not get very high skill.
So maybe :
VHS : more than 4,000
HS : 3,200 ~ 3,999
Normal : less than 3,200

It used to be high skill at 3200 and very high at 3700, but I feel like both have increased by about 200 since the badge change.
theres a hidden/unranked mmr that goes up and down with every game you play.
