Doom is one of those "it's going to cost you are hero" type heroes, so don't try to solo the man especially if you don't know that Doom is on cooldown. He farms quite fast so you should try to mess with him as soon as possible and he kind of fades in the late game... But he is really strong in the mid game with the bonus gold and xp just like Alchemist. But if he cannot finish the game, he tends to fall from relevancy.

i'd say, if a doom game goes 40min+, secure 3rd rosh, give him that refresher shard, end the game or loose it and say you tried

also yes, you can punish doom in lane before level 5, just like you would want to shut bristle/timber/tide down at level 1

well, if you just brong the doomed hero home hes not dead. but hes still out of the fight.

Correct! On top of that, they want the talent with additional devour gold. Even with the normal devour, his gold is already unlimited.
