Medals are not indicative of your skill level. You could just get lucky/carried and win a bunch of games and be 3-4 stars higher than you deserve, and still be that same medal after you lose a bunch of games.
MMR is more indicative.

The medal or your MMR ?
Which one will be taken to account for people's skill you are going to play with in ur team?
In my personal experience, it seems like it is medals...but I am not sure.
