dota killing internet? in General Discussion

Was just curious if anyone has experienced this. I googled it quite extensively and it seems like a lot of people have this issue, where they not only will get disconnected to a dota 2 game, but their entire internet will go out whether hard wired or wireless. And it will stay off from anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, have even heard longer. For some people it is just long enough to get an abandon. I think it depends on your router.

I am not saying it is a problem with dota 2 specifically but everyone who has this issue only has it with dota 2, which is strange. Also most people who have the problem generally have it when trying to run more than one program besides dota.

I have heard a variety of reasons, have heard it is comcast, have heard it is bad computers, have heard it is a problem with dota 2, have heard it is bad routers, have heard it is something to do with ports. I guess I would have to say it is more computer specific because I started experiencing this issue recently when I switched computers. Though I do play on a good computer in the house that will do this same problem sometimes.

Just wondering if anyone else has heard of this or experienced this and knew of a fix or knew what the specific problem is.

anyone have this? I am running out of things to try. Not only getting disconnected from dota but the entire internet network will drop for several minutes. guess it is time 2 switch to blitz crank =(

really upsetting just happened again in my last game. I grew up on warcraft 3 and dota is my favorite moba I really do not want to switch mobas because of this shit...The more I think about it I refuse to think it is PC quality. I used to play dota on a tin can and i never had internet troubles ever. And that was on the same network I am on now. Suddenly I go from windows XP 2 gigs of ram 2 core processor to windows 10 and better everything and now I am plagued with issues.

I am going to try getting a new modem I guess. I am out of options though. I am willing to accept that it is my computer, it just would not make sense to me because this never happened when I played on a shit computer on this same network. It is happening almost every game now even when I am not running other programs.

HoN or shit league till I figure this out I guess.

edit: please i want to cry I can handle losing because I am bad but I can not handle losing because of this. Please Valve I know I suck at dota but I love it so I just want to.

It might be my router. It has been happening rather recently, and my phone loses connection to the internet as well, so there's that.

Its the number of ports that dotes uses. Older routers with slower processors cant handle the load. I suggest that everyone upgrades their routers to 2017 class types that have faster processors and ram.

Its usually the Router when you have this issue. Every know and then Mine will do this usually during High Server times. 12-5 on a Saturday. I have a 8 Core processor Liquid cooled system with 16gigs of and a 1080 and once every 2-3 weeks The same thing will happen to me. I believe it is my TWC shitty standard Router.

I have pretty much narrowed it down to the router modem or comcast. I brought my PC to my brothers and played a few games and did not have a single internet issue.

Also I seemed to have found a sort of fix to the issue in case anyone else actually is experiencing this
