If that's the direction they are going I'll be visiting dotabuff slightly less. Enjoy reading the blogs but Im way to casual a player to pay for them.

Thanks for the feedback, we really appreciate hearing what you have to say about this. I'd like to clarify a few things:
- We are NOT making all blog posts Plus-only, or decreasing the volume of normal (free) content. This Plus post is IN ADDITION to our normal content schedule.
- We wanted to experiment with a different type of post that was more of a deep dive into a specific part of the meta. This type of content takes significantly more research and effort to produce, and involves more people.
- Related to that, unlike other sites, we pay all of our contributors for their content. This includes pulling in external experts like players, coaches, etc for these Plus posts, and costs more money.
- Like other things on Dotabuff, we thought it fair to offer a more comprehensive experience for those who are able and willing to contribute to helping keep the site going via Dotabuff Plus.
We're listening to all of your feedback, and we appreciate the support of Plus subscribers. I fully understand if you're disappointed, but we're trying something new, and hope that you enjoy the new form of content.

Yeah, we kinda got that, the problem is that no matter how you want to deal with this, making a post appear on the main page only to tell us "you have to get plus to read our blog posts" is gonna be a huge turn off for people. It really doesn't look pretty, or put dotabuff plus itself in a positive light.

maybe u should offer a free dotabuff plus trial with limited functions (i.e. no hero rankings) to get ppl to try ur product, check ur articles for quality etc?
i mean why would i buy dotabuff plus to check ur articles, the chance the article(s) suck/are written by low mmr players/don't really suggest anything new to me is quite high
@lols - Good idea, we do plan on offering a free trial, and being able to preview Plus posts is all that much more of a reason for it
@'` - Sorry to hear. Can you elaborate on what you don't like about this? Our goal was to provide a new kind of more in-depth content.

some of it was super obvious but i only watch pro games rarely so it was fun reading for sure
it went in depth on one team's drafting "strategy", specifically what heroes they pick as core and support and how they synergize.
it also highlighted one players strategy in the laning phase, and why it worked
i wanted plus anyway for other reasons
there wasnt any obvious wrong shit anyway, im sure they have knowledgeable human beings doing research and its not all "3k mods lul"

@Confused - sorry about that. It didn't break any rules, but I wanted to give this thread the best possible chance of giving meaningful feedback, and thought a 100 ft pepe didn't help with that ;P
I personally don't like that idea, I understand that this is probably a more researched article and probably won't affect the productivity of the normal posts, but it is simply feels unfair
I mean, it was established that dotabuff blog posts free articles to read, and does not have connections to the dotabuff plus paid membership services. And making that move, essentially limiting the (non subscribed) users access to the content, feels like some sort of "betrayal"
While I can still read normal articles, those ones are going to sit in the corner, essentially teasing me to subscribe. That feels abit out of place
I think that those articles should have a distinct section which won't interfere with the normal ones. I understand that it may decrease the advertisement of the articles, but I think that them being on the front page is really teasing, essentially spitting in my face "subscribe"
Maybe instead of cutting the post early, you can post to the non subscribed a TL DR version, which still convey the article's saying but without being as informative

The post is fine, Dota players just complain alot because they aren't successful in real life and don't know what it takes to keep a business/website going.
I have no doubt that this is a business and need to be profitable in order to exist
But I think that the profit should have minimum interfere with the user experience to make it the most appealing for the broad community, and I personally find that the limited article idea's execution feels really uncomfortable and makes the non subscribed user like he misses a lot, maybe even a bit of guilt for not paying
I personally don't like the execution, I am totally on board about the reason behind it

Im stopping the service because i havent played dota for the past 4 months and I am planning on not playing it anymore either
DB+ is useless
i had it for a year, gives basically nothing
i think you need more interesting features with it.
the fact that it only shows what percentile, instead of what actual rank you are on a hero, when you're not in top 200 is a giant kick in the nuts.
dotabuff has been adding a lot more stats for free, you're getting more out of this site than you were a few years ago anyway. which they kind of had to since valve does the post game stuff now... but anyway, it's not like free users are losing anything.

like to suggest that skim has the dota knowledge to make an in depth article is dumb
and i know u said it was taken with suggestion of pros and such, but its not obvious at first glance
just seems kinda stupid imo to put something in the main page then say "Jebaited u cant see this"

but i will pay for dotabuff for another 6 months and destroy everything those so called experts claim. Got little time but since Im in lp now ill use that time on this.
