Because fat acts as a cushion to reduce the impulse of the car hitting him therefore he will feel less pain than random person. Thus you feel less bad for him.

Well if a fit 40 year old dies then they just missed out on half their life. If an obese person gets hit by a car they could of had a heart attack 5 minutes later regardless.

fat people are easier to notice so they get hit less
