calculator doesn't overlay on the screen, i'd have to select it every time i want to increment/decrement...
i want something that doesn't interact with other programs.
u press any letter on the keyboard and it adds 1 character to your screen.
u press backspace and it decrements the number of characters.
except that implies you'd have a textbox and you'd have to manually count the # of characters
ez micro practice.
alt-tab -> press any character on notepad -> alt-tab back
similarly
alt-tab -> backspace -> alt-tab
If you need to count and don't want to manually do it just pop it in word or something xd
The process of getting it set up is not simple but Try using Rainmeter. It is a customer desktop creater and im sure there is something you can use in there to overlay a simple counter.

i'm looking for quite a simple program.
you press a button it increments a number somewhere on the screen, you press some other button and it decrements it.
