Poor Man's Shield. It still gives 1 armor from the agility and blocks 12 more damage on average on each hit.

PMS especially on centaur offlane, where you can easily farm camps when the lane is pushed.

PMS mitigates a shit ton more dmg from heroes. Protection is only if you are going to build into something like iron talon or aquila, which a str hero probably doesn't build aquila.

I mean you can go bassy I forgot about that, bb does it too sometimes. I wouldn't build full aquila on str though.

Normally it is Poor Man Shield, unless you want to buy quick Vanguard. Axe, Centaur and BB can all rush Vanguard in early game if they are in offlane.

Heroes like Sven, Chaos Knight and Magnus prefer PMS when in lane against Drow, PA or Viper.

Dragon Knight needs only the Stout Shield and Tidehunter wants neither.

dk goes pms in the mid, he needs it lvl 1
almost every strength hero that doesnt build vlads or talon doesnt want ring of protection.
