Yes It's very possible especially if you don't care that much about your MMR.
yesterday I lost around 200 MMR because I was tired and sleepy but also bored so I kept playing because f*ck MMR I play to have fun and learn.
give me a week like that and I'll be playing with crappy 1k MMR (and probably still lose xd)
I have seen people suggest crazy stuff like "take a day off" when you lose more than 2 games in row. I think those types of people won't drop that low in MMR.
plus once you lose a few games you get the "fu*k it It can't get any worse" mentality

I mean, he picks whateverthefuck heroes, randoms, sometimes feeds and has idiotic nicknames, as if carry is the only good and reliable position to win.
Either he stopped giving a single fuck about Dota and is just going full "fuck this game, let's go fucking random, you dipshits" or is sincerely retarded.
The second one lost his MMR, because he started to pick lots of garbage heroes, instead of just sticking to 1-3 heroes spam.
Like... If he wasn't to pick tons of different garbage, but just stick to Lycan+1 or 2 heroes, he'd be 5k+.

That person must have 0 MMR in decision making if they kept spamming heroes that they were completely terrible at to the point where they lost 2k in MMR.

one of my dota 2 friend. he was 4.8k a year ago when he was peak. today i checked on his game, he is now around 2.8k mmr.
