he's not a hard carry (gets shat on by tb/pa/spec/sven, even sniper).
he's ok as pos 2 (but just ok. he'll get pooped on by viper/tinker).
The missile is absolute dogshite. The delay needs to be reduced to 1 sec or altogether.
Flak sucks because he has no attack range (dragon lance kinda sorta fixes it).
His ult is dogshite late game because it doesn't scale.
I still play him from time to time if teammates aren't too anal about meta picks.
I usually go phase --> wand --> aquila --> Bkb/Sceptre --> MoM (breaks up into butterfly and satanic) --> MKB
Sceptre is p gud on this hero because you actually leech hp from that extra hit.

I think he's like Venom. Venom was OP long before recently yet both comp and pub ignored him.
Check the total damage in a teamfight. Gyro is up there with Spec and Zeus. Then check the burst damage on single target. He is excellent at both.
Include something similar to the introduction of Hurricane Pike in the next patch that Gyro can make use of, change nothing on the hero and there will a thread "Gyro too op gg valve stupid hero nerf pls"
^ Oh I forgot you might sub Sceptre for Lance/Pike depending on the situation.
Pike is more defensive, Sceptre more offensive.
Gyro has been on the verge of being viable for a while
He just needs a more flexible build regarding his aghs and he cud be good
^ Problem with SNY is that you also need BKB and Pike/Sceptre.
By the time you farm all that you're basically a tanky creep that does no damage.
So you gotta choose between SNY, Pike, and Sceptre, then move onto BKB and a damage item.
Pike is bad don't build it
Gyro gets into the middle of fights due to his ulti and rocket barrage, having extra range is worthless
U either go sny bkb then a damage item then satanic/butterfly or u go aghs maelstrom bkb satanic then butterfly/Daedalus/min etc
The aghs build farms way faster but takes a bit longer to come online
Sny build better for fighting
Obviously sometimes u need to fit in a situational item like linkens or Pike against Riki but the above builds r usually the go to, pros opt for the sny build however. The aghs build is good but it takes time to come online, there just needs to be an intermediary item that can slot in between aghs and ur early phase/Aquila that can help u stay relevant early in fights.
I'm not saying Gyro should go Pike. I mean he needs a "kick" like Pike for Venom.
Agha is right now the best item for Gyro cus it gives more attack speed than Moonshard.
I dislike SnY for heaps of reasons. 1. Phase is OP. 2. Gyro is slot tight. 3. The passive is bad on ranged. In terms of cost efficiency, Lance beats SnY by miles and you can sell it whenever.
Gyro has high base ms so SnY's boost covers up for the loss of ranged Maim, then coupled with Phase and MoM it's even better.
This is the same case for Razor
The reason why those two heroes were so shitty back then is because when Pike was out, every ranged carry shines Luna Drow Viper etc. except for them. They got skill sets that need them to be close in range of the target, so the extra attack range is wasted.
Then ta-da SnY was buffed, Pike and DL got nerfed, they become more viable.
If you're afraid of being kited get a BKB
This is the Heaven's Halberd meta though, so it's a sad meta for Gyro
lance and sny serve different purposes
sny helps u stay on top of the enemy, gyro needs to be close to the enemy to use rocket barrage
lance helps u stay away from the enemy
good insight, really good advice. i guess most of u explained it so good anyway. hopefully there will be more discussion on other hero.most of the time i kinda confuse what to get on gyro. now i get so much idea. i believe sny is great for general situation. i understand better on gyro now ty guys.
Gyro does not suck. It's just theres a lot of heroes that are more better than him.
You want a burst magical damage with his Barrage and Call Down? Lina, SF, or even Luna (with Eclipse) can handle that, and more fit to this day meta.
